Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios Announce Upcoming Film Slate at D23 Expo

cocoWalt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios announced the upcoming animated film slate at the D23 Expo on Friday.

The first film slated for release is Coco which arrives in theaters on November 22.

The film tells the story of Miguel, an aspiring musician whose family has banned music. Miguel finds himself in the Land of the Dead where he meets “charming trickster” Hector, and the duo sets off on a journey to find the story behind Miguel’s family history.

Coco features the voices of Anthony Gonzalez, Benjamin Bratt, and more, and features songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Frozen).

Also premiering in November (in front of Coco), is the 21-minute featurette Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. This film stars Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Jonathon Groff.

The Incredibles 2 arrives in theaters on June 15, 2018. The film picks up right after the end of the original film and puts the family “into an expanded universe that includes new allies and a brand-new villain.”

Up next is Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-it-Ralph 2, which stars the voices of original cast members Sarah Silverman, John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch, plus a new character voiced by Taraji P. Henson.

The film also includes a scene with the Disney Princesses and features the voices of Auli‘i Cravalho (Moana), Kristen Bell (Anna in Frozen), Kelly MacDonald (Merida in Brave), Mandy Moore (Rapunzel in Tangled), Anika Noni Rose (Tiana in The Princess and the Frog), Irene Bedard (Pocahontas), Linda Larkin (Jasmine in Aladdin), Paige O’Hara (Belle in Beauty and the Beast) and Jodi Benson (Ariel in The Little Mermaid).

Wreck-it-Ralph 2 arrives in theaters on November 21, 2018.

An untitled Disneytoon Studios film is slated for release on April 12, 2019, while Toy Story 4 arrives on June 21, 2019. And, Frozen 2 (not the official title) will arrive in theaters on November 27, 2019.
