Production Begins on Sequel to 2010’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’

alice1Production has started on the sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 live-action Alice in Wonderland.

Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass stars many of the original cast members including Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway.

Some new faces are also joining the cast including Sacha Baron Cohen as “Time,” Rhys Ifans (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) as the Mad Hatter’s father Zanik Hightopp, and Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey) as James Harcourt.

Other voice actors returning to the film include: Matt Lucas, Michael Sheen, Alan Rickman,  Timothy Spall, Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, and Paul Whitehouse.

James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted) is directing Through the Looking Glass and the screenplay was written by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast).

Tim Burton is still involved with the film, this time as executive producer, while Danny Elfman returns as the film’s composer and Oscar winner Colleen Atwood is designing the film’s costumes.

Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass is scheduled for theatrical release on May 27, 2016.
