Rob Ashford Rumored to Be Hired for Disney’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Stage Musical

10 April 2012 No Comment

While the stage adaptation of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is still several years from coming to fruition, sources say that Disney Theatrical has hired Broadway director and choreographer Rob Ashford, although both the company and Ashford have denied commenting on the truth of this.

Disney Theatrical have been considering a stage adaptation of Burton’s film for several months now, and rumor has it that Linda Woolverton will be writing the book for the musical based on her screenplay for the film with Richard D. Zanuck executive producing. However, a Disney spokesperson has not officially confirmed or denied these statements.

At this point, much of what we can surmise about the stage musical is simply speculation, but we’ll be sure to share more information with you as we hear it.
