Disney Junior’s ‘Sofia the First’ Receives Six Daytime Emmy Nominations

SofiaDisney Junior’s hit animated series Sofia the First has received six nominations for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

The series, which follows the adventures of Princess Sofia, is the all-time record holder for the top two cable television telecasts for kids ages 2-5.

The Emmy nominations are for: Outstanding Preschool Children’s Animated Program, Outstanding Casting for an Animated Series or Special, Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program, Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition, Outstanding Original Song for “I Belong,” and Outstanding Original Song for the Main Title and Promo.

Last year the show was cable television’s number one series for girls ages 2-5 and the number one preschool cable television series in total viewers and women ages 18-49.

The show has also spawned a New York Times bestseller Sofia the First, and a number one Kids iPad app, Sofia the First: Story Theater.

Sofia the First stars Ariel Winter (Modern Family), Sara Ramirez (Grey’s Anatomy), Wayne Brady (Let’s Make a Deal), and Tim Gunn (Project Runway).
