star wars logo 0401The Star Wars: Force for Change initiative has raised $4.26 million for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The unique fundraising initiative was launched earlier this summer and gave donors a chance to give money to UNICEF and win a grand prize visit to the Star Wars: Episode VII set.

The money raised by Star Wars: Force for Change came from citizens of 125 countries and is enough to support seven or eight new UNICEF Innovation Labs.

D.C. Barns of Denver, Colorado was the grand prize winner and will receive a trip to London for himself and a guest. The trip includes a behind-the-scenes visit to the Star Wars set and the chance to film a scene for the new movie.

UNICEF’s Innovation Labs create sustainable solutions to issues facing kids around the world in the areas of nutrition, water, health, and eduction.

Disney donated $1 million in support of the launch of Star Wars: Force for Change.
