This week, Disney and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced that Disney Media Distribution has extended its global distribution contract for the Academy Awards through 2020. The agreement allows Disney to cover sales of the Oscars to international networks and media platforms.

Last night, some of film’s best and brightest were awarded for their contributions to this year’s movies at the 84th Annual Academy Awards. Among those awarded was songwriter Bret McKenzie, who wrote the music for last fall’s film The Muppets.

We’ve been getting really excited for the premiere of Disney/Pixar’s new film Brave this summer, but now, there’s just as much reason to be excited for what comes before the film as well.
