‘Brave,’ ‘Paperman,’ ‘Lincoln’ Earn 2013 Oscars

Last night, Hollywood celebrated the performers, creators, and  at the 2013 Academy Awards. While Argo earned Best Picture, several Disney films were also honored with Oscars at the ceremony, which also included an appearance by the cast of The Avengers.
Following its wins at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Annie Awards, Disney/Pixar’s recent film Brave earned the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Co-directors Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman accepted the award, making Chapman the first woman to earn an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. ‘Avengers’ Stars to Present at the Academy Awards

Last summer, Marvel’s The Avengers took the world by storm and became the highest grossing Disney movie of all time. Before the talented cast reunites for the film’s sequel in 2015, however, many of the Avengers will soon be assembling once more at this year’s Academy Awards.

Walt Disney Studios Earns 17 Oscar Nominations

The Walt Disney Studios definitely has something to celebrate: the Oscar nominations were announced, and the company earned 17 nominations for their films!
Lincoln took the most nominations with 12 total, including a nomination for Best Picture. Additionally, Lincoln earned the distinction of being the most nominated film of the year. Other Disney films earned one nomination each, including Frankenweenie, Brave, Wreck-It Ralph, Paperman and The Avengers.

‘Paperman’ Makes Short List for Academy Awards Nomination

While Disney Animation Studios’ newest feature film Wreck-It Ralph has been delighting audiences and taking in record numbers at the box office, perhaps one of the biggest treats of seeing the film in theaters is the opportunity to see the short film before it, Paperman. Disney Extends Global Distribution Deal for Academy Awards Through 2020

This week, Disney and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced that Disney Media Distribution has extended its global distribution contract for the Academy Awards through 2020. The agreement allows Disney to cover sales of the Oscars to international networks and media platforms.

Bret McKenzie Wins Academy Award for ‘The Muppets’ Song ‘Man or Muppet’

Last night, some of film’s best and brightest were awarded for their contributions to this year’s movies at the 84th Annual Academy Awards. Among those awarded was songwriter Bret McKenzie, who wrote the music for last fall’s film The Muppets.
McKenzie, who is best known as one half of the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, was awarded the Oscar for Best Original Song for his song “Man or Muppet.” This is McKenzie’s first Academy Award.

New Clip of Pixar Short Film ‘La Luna’ Released

We’ve been getting really excited for the premiere of Disney/Pixar’s new film Brave this summer, but now, there’s just as much reason to be excited for what comes before the film as well. This week, Pixar released a short clip of La Luna, the animated short set to debut in front of Brave.
