Get Your Photo Taken with an Oscar at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Oscars are this Sunday, February 26, on ABC and from now until that day guests can get up close and personal with a real Academy Award at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Oscar® statuette is located at One Man’s Dream in the Studios.
Guests can walk the red carpet and have their photo taken with the statuette during regular park hours.

Disney Parks Guests Can Pose with an Oscar Statuette at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

For the first time ever, Disney Parks guests have a chance to get up close with an Oscar statuette at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
From now until February 22 guests can visit the ‘My Oscar Moment’ display inside The Magic of Disney Animation Building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and have their photo taken with the Oscar.
Guests have a chance to walk the red carpet and stand next to the Oscar with the signature backdrop behind them.
This is the first fan experience with an Oscar since 2012 when the “Meet the Oscar” event …

‘Big Hero 6’ Hits $500 Million Mark at Global Box Office

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film Big Hero 6 recently crossed the $500 million mark at the global box office.
This makes the film the fifth Disney animated film to make $500 million worldwide. The other films are Frozen, The Lion King, Tangled, and Aladdin.
Big Hero 6 earned $218.5 million at the domestic box office and will soon be the third highest grossing Disney Animation film in history.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ ‘Frozen’ Wins Oscar for Best Animated Feature

For the first time (in forever) Walt Disney Animation Studios took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The Studios’ worldwide phenomenon Frozen was named Best Animated Feature at the Oscar telecast on March 2. To date the film has earned $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
The Animated Film category was introduced at the Academy Awards in 2002 and has been dominated by Disney’s Pixar studios. That studio has won seven times in the last 11 years but was not nominated this year.

The Academy Award nominations are out and the Walt Disney Studios earned a total of eight nominations.

Academy Award Winner Michael Douglas to Star in Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’

Fresh off his Golden Globe win for portraying Liberace in HBO’s Behind the Candelabra, Michael Douglas has signed on to star in Marvel’s Ant-Man.
In the film Douglas will play scientist Hank Pym – a character who first appeared in Tales to Astonish #27. Pym was the creator of the technology that shrinks humans to the size of an insect, allowing a human to become Ant-Man.
Paul Rudd is set to star alongside Douglas as Scott Lang, Ant-Man’s alter ego.

‘Brave,’ ‘Paperman,’ ‘Lincoln’ Earn 2013 Oscars

Last night, Hollywood celebrated the performers, creators, and  at the 2013 Academy Awards. While Argo earned Best Picture, several Disney films were also honored with Oscars at the ceremony, which also included an appearance by the cast of The Avengers.
Following its wins at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Annie Awards, Disney/Pixar’s recent film Brave earned the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. ‘Avengers’ Stars to Present at the Academy Awards

Last summer, Marvel’s The Avengers took the world by storm and became the highest grossing Disney movie of all time. Before the talented cast reunites for the film’s sequel in 2015, however, many of the Avengers will soon be assembling once more at this year’s Academy Awards.

Walt Disney Studios Earns 17 Oscar Nominations

The Walt Disney Studios definitely has something to celebrate: the Oscar nominations were announced, and the company earned 17 nominations for their films!
Lincoln took the most nominations with 12 total, including a nomination for Best Picture. Additionally, Lincoln earned the distinction of being the most nominated film of the year. Other Disney films earned one nomination each, including Frankenweenie, Brave, Wreck-It Ralph, Paperman and The Avengers.
