Disney Developing ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Sequel

Sources are reporting that Disney is currently developing a sequel to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which earned over $1 billion worldwide for the studio.
Disney hired award-winning screenwriter Linda Woolverton to pen the sequel’s script. Woolverton has worked on several Disney films in the past, including the first Alice as well as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and the forthcoming Maleficent.
So far, the studio is keeping plot details for the planned sequel under wraps, but we’ll let you know more as soon as new information becomes available.

‘Alice In Wonderland’ Themed Water Area Opens at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Walt Disney Imagineers have created a new Alice In Wonderland-themed water play area at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
The new area is highlighted by an upturned Mad Hatter’s Hat that dumps water when it’s filled up and a teacup that spills water into smaller cups that shower guests playing below. Kids can also enjoy sprinklers and water spouts on the ground, as well as two mini water slides.

New ‘Alice In Wonderland’ Themed Splash Pad Open at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The new Alice in Wonderland themed splash playground opened at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort this week. The splash area features several waterfalls, two slides, and a central play area for the kids.
Some of the special water effects take place on a timer, while others are operated by kids pulling on pull-cords and turning valves. In traditional Disney style, the design of the playground is highly detailed with images of Alice, the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit and friends. Frankenweenie Weekend Announced for Downtown Disney

Disney Animator Ken Walker Passes Away at 91

Former Disney animator and director Ken Walker, who worked on classics including Alice in Wonderland and Fantasia, passed away on August 18 at the age of 91.
Walker worked for Disney from 1940-42, and again from 1945 to 1952. Additionally, he was filmed as one of Disney’s leading animators on the “Disney Cartoons” episode of You Asked For It, available on YouTube.
In addition to his work for Disney, he also worked for Columbia Pictures and Hanna-Barbera. Additionally, he founded Funnybone Films in 1981 and remained the owner of the company for …

Rob Ashford Rumored to Be Hired for Disney’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Stage Musical

While the stage adaptation of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is still several years from coming to fruition, sources say that Disney Theatrical has hired Broadway director and choreographer Rob Ashford, although both the company and Ashford have denied commenting on the truth of this.

New Details Revealed About California Adventure’s ‘Mad T Party’

Disney California Adventure’s Mad T Party, a new nighttime spectacular set to replace ElecTRONica on June 15, promises to be filled with plenty of wacky and wonderful delights inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Rob Ashford to Direct Musical Adaptation of ‘Alice in Wonderland’

This week, it was announced that Broadway director and choreographer Rob Ashford will be teaming up with Disney Theatrical Productions to bring a musical adaptation of  Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland to the stage. The new musical, which does not yet have a premiere date, will be based on Disney’s 2010 Alice in Wonderland film, rather than the original Lewis Carroll stories and Disney’s 1951 animated film of the same name.

Celebrate the New Year with Exclusive Disney Merchandise

There are several new items coming to Disney Parks this year, which will allow visitors to ring in the New Year in style. One of the items is the clock-inspired Disney Eat Hat, designed by Mark Seppala, who says that Alice in Wonderland partially inspired him to create this new ear hat.
Additionally, the clock theme carries over into the Disney Pins, with a new pin featuring Tinkerbell. Two additional Disney Pins will also be released at Disneyland and Walt Disney World to help commemorate the New Year.
