Celebrate Disney PhotoPass Day on August 19

August 19 is World Photo Day and to celebrate guests at the Walt Disney World Resort can take part in Disney PhotoPass Day!
The day will be filled with special photo opportunities and rare character interactions. Some photo opps will be inspired by the Dream Big, Princess campaign.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Meeko will join Pocahontas, Timon will join Rafiki, and Princess Atta will join Flick.
Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios guests can meet the Queen from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil at Sunset Showcase.

Mobile Order Comes to Epcot

The new Mobile Order system at the Walt Disney World Resort has made its way to Epcot.
The first quick service restaurant at Epcot where guests can use Mobile Order is Electric Umbrella in Future World.
Mobile Order allows guests to pre-order and pre-pay for meals at counter service restaurants at the theme parks and Disney Springs. Guests using Mobile Order can then go straight to pick up their food when they arrive at the restaurant.

Pandora: The World of Avatar Opens May 27

Pandora: The World of Avatar is opening May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney CEO Bob Iger made the announcement this afternoon during The Walt Disney Company’s quarterly earnings call.
The immersive new land based on the blockbuster – and Oscar-winning film Avatar – will transport guests to the land of Pandora, home to floating mountains and bioluminescent plants.
Two attraction will anchor the land – the Na’vi River Journey and Avatar Flight of Passage.

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders Offered a Discount on Park Hopper Tickets

Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passholders can get a discount on park tickets from now until September 30.
In an e-newsletter sent to Passholders, Disney is offering a 1-day Park Hopper ticket for $79.
These tickets normally cost between $155 and $160 for adults and $149-154 for kids ages 3-9.
Passholders can bring up to six guests but Passholders must be present with a valid pass to purchase the tickets. These discount tickets must also be used on the same day they are purchased. Tickets must be purchased at a theme park ticket …

Walt Disney World Resort Announces April Merchandise Events

Spring is most definitely in the air at the Walt Disney World Resort and to celebrate there’s a brand new month of special merchandise events planned.
Guests visiting the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival will find merchandise at the artisan showcase pergolas including Boiled Books, Growmanji, Elemental Nursery, EyeCatchers, Haf2Paitn, Reinhard Herzog, Noah’s Ark Topiaries, and Swaying in the Breeze.

Final Expedition Everest Challenge Happens May 2 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The final runDisney Expedition Everest Challenge happens Saturday, May 2 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The nighttime event combines a 5K race and a scavenger hunt that includes running, obstacle courses, and puzzles. The race course takes runners through the Animal Kingdom – a park that can be difficult to navigate in the daylight.
The first Expedition Everest Challenge debuted in 2008 as a fall runDisney event and was moved to a spring event just five years ago.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Receives Award for Success in Breeding Taveta Golden Weavers

Disney’s Animal Kingdom was recently recognized for one of the park’s sustainability programs.
The theme park was awarded the 2014 Edward H. Bean Award for its work with the Taveta golden weaver, an African bird.
The award was presented by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and recognizes programs that contribute to the reproductive success of one or more species or subspecies. The AZA looks at the significance of the breeding program for species conservation, and the long-term commitment to the program.

As we say good-bye today to Maelstrom in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion – the ride is closing for good to make way for a new Frozen attraction – we also have more Frozen news to report.

The Disney Food Blog has announced the grand launch of its latest e-book.
The 2014 DFB Guide to Animal Kingdom & Hollywood Studios Snacks e-book is a full-color guide to all the snacks at the Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The e-book is part of the DFB Snack Series of e-books and features more than 280 pages of information and tips on more than 250 snacks at both theme parks.

Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company Introduces Disney-Inspired Flavors

If you have ever wished your cup of morning coffee came from your favorite Disney Resort, Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company has a solution.
The Tampa, Florida based company has introduced nine new coffees as the Disney Parks and Resorts Specialty Coffee Collection.
