Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Honored for Guest Experiences

This year has been a good year for the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts – in all they’ve received more than 150 awards from the travel industry.
Disney received a total of 15 awards in the Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards including awards for the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland, Disney Vacation Club, Disney Cruise Line, Aulain, and more.
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) recognized Walt Disney Parks and Resorts this year for experiences at Shanghai Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.

Disney Cruise Line Named #1 Cruise Line By Condé Nast Traveler Readers

This week, Disney Cruise Line was officially recognized for its excellence and the superior cruise experience that Disney provides. The cruise line was named the #1 cruise line in the large ship category in the Condé Nast Traveler 2012 Reader’s Choice Awards, an annual readers’ survey that honors and recognizes the top resorts, destinations, airlines, cruise lines and car rental agencies.

John Lasseter is #8 on Vanity Fair New Establishment List

Each year, Vanity Fair Magazine identifies who they believe to be the world’s most influential people with their New Establishment List. The list honors “the top 50 of an innovative new breed of buccaneering visionaries, engineering prodigies, and entrepreneurs,” with such influential individuals as Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and newly appointed Apple CEO Tim Cook at the top of the rankings. Disneyland Restaurants and Pastry Chef Win Top Honors

For the last 36 years, the Southern California Restaurant Writers, Inc. have been selecting winners from south Santa Barbara to the border of Mexico for their annual awards, and Disneyland resort restaurants received top honors in 5 categories at their banquet held Sunday. Additionally, Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Marc Viallet (Disneyland Resort) received the supreme honor of being awarded Pastry Chef of the Year!
Other Disney restaurants that received awards included:

Disneyland Resort Receives Another Award for Saving Water

Once again, Disney has been recognized for its commitment to environmental responsibility.
On Tuesday,  The California Stormwater Quality Association honored Disney during its sixth annual awards luncheon, for efforts to reduce storm water runoff and the pollution that runoff causes to our waterways and oceans.  Disney was among five recipients of this year’s award.
The popular tourist attraction has created a program to diminish significantly the amount of water that empties into storm drains and the ocean by utilizing a porous asphalt.  The porous material allows rainwater to seep into the ground, rather than running over paved …

Selena Gomez Less Than Enthusiastic About “Jersey Shore’s” Vinny

Selena Gomez may be a big fan of MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” but she’s apparently willing to lie about her age to avoid unwanted advances from the show’s cast members.
In an interview at MTV’s Video Music Awards, Vinny was asked who was the most attractive woman at the awards. His answer: “Selena Gomez, if she’s 18.”

Wilderness Lodge Wins Best Theme Park Hotel Award

Theme Park Insider polls its readers for their yearly Theme Park Insider Awards. This years winner for Best Theme Park Hotel was Disney’s Wilderness Lodge in Disney World.
The Wilderness Lodge is one of Disney World’s “deluxe” resorts. While the Wilderness Lodge is a less expensive option, these resorts can still be quite expensive. Still the resort beat out some stiff competition. From the article:

“Up” Wins Two of Three Grammy Nominations

Pixar’s “Up” was nominated for three Grammy awards and won two of them on Sunday night.
The film won Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media and Best Instrumental Composition, the latter was for the track “Married Life.” These awards recognize Michael Giacchino who was the composer for the films score.
“Up” was also nominated for Best Instrumental Arrangement, which was won by Bill Cunliffe for “West Side Story Medley.”
These wins give “Up” strong standing heading into the Oscar awards where it hopes to win …
