New Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card Available at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

If you’re attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this season you can pick up a party-exclusive Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card.
This exclusive playing card features Rover from the Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom. Disney says Rovers was chosen “because Merlin is inspired by the Carousel of Progress’ celebration of human innovation.”
Guests at the party can pick up the card at the Firehouse on Main Street U.S.A. during the party.
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom can be played throughout the park by visiting the magic portals and using the …

First Items from New Twenty-Eight & Main Collection to Debut August 28

The first items from the new Twenty-Eight & Main collection will debut on the Disney Parks online store on August 28 through September 3.
The items for sale include three T-shirts along with three wooden signs featuring similar graphics.
One of the T-shirts is a knit, short-sleeve shirt inspired by Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. The shirt features the lion from the Disney Parks castles’ coat of arms. Another T-shirt features artwork inspired by The Florida Project.

Carousel of Progress Celebrates 40th Anniversary this Week at the Magic Kingdom

This week marks the 40th anniversary of the Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom.
The attraction is a fan favorite and features that earworm of a theme song, “There’s a Great, Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”
The Carousel of Progress was originally sponsored by General Electric when the ride opened in 1975 at the Magic Kingdom and featured the theme song “The Best Time of Your Life.” This was a change from the attraction’s original theme song.
After a refurbishment in 1993, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” returned to the attraction. Also returned …

Poster-Inspired Disney Attraction T-Shirts Arriving at Disney Parks Online Store

Four new T-shirts inspired by Disney Parks attractions are making their way to the Disney Parks online store this month.
The shirts were inspired by attraction posters featured in the Poster Art of Disney Parks book by Vanessa Hunt and Danny Handke.
The first two shirts are available from April 15 through April 20 and celebrate Fantasyland at Disneyland Park and the Sunshine Tree Terrace at the Magic Kingdom. The Fantasyland T-shirt is purple and the poster that inspired the tee was created in 1955 by Bjorn Aronson.

Walt Disney World Celebrating Attractions of Yesteryear at D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is celebrating Disney attractions of yesteryear this fall at the D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind event.
Attractions including ‘If You Had Wings,’ ‘Adventure Thru Inner Space,’ ’20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,’ and others will be remembered through stories, vintage videos, and concept art.
The two-day event takes place November 22 and 23 at the Walt Disney World Resort. One full day of the event will be dedicated to the New York World’s Fair of 1964-65 – the same fair where ‘it’s a small world’ and ‘Carousel …

Richard M. Sherman and Alan Menken Set to Perform Together at the D23: Expo

Disney Legends Richard M. Sherman and Alan Menken – two of the world’s most celebrated songwriters and composers – will take the stage at this year’s D23 Expo 2013 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Richard M. Sherman and Alan Menken: The Disney Songbook.
Sherman and Menken have composed music and songs for more than three dozen Disney feature films and more than two dozen Disney Park attractions, in addition to half a dozen Disney musicals on Broadway.

Jack Lindquist’s “In Service to the Mouse” Provides a Glimpse Into Disney History

If you are interested in learning about the history of the Disney company — from a source other than Disney — then Jack Lindquist’s book “In Service to the Mouse” may be just the book for you.
Lindquist began his career with Disneyland in 1955, before the flagship attraction was even completed.  He became the park’s first president, and has some incredible stories to tell as a result.
