On July 17, Demi Lovato surprised fans with a cover version of Lady Antebellum’s American Honey, trying her hand at some country twang and proving that a teen pop sensation can definitely branch out.

Former Disney star Demi Lovato will be kicking off her summer tour in June, starting in California and making 21 stops around the United States as well as one stop in Canada. The tour will run the entire summer and culminate September 1. Hot Chelle Rae and Owl City are expected to be Lovato’s opening acts.

With her well-publicized stint in rehab for an eating disorder, self-harm and emotional issues, Disney darling Demi Lovato has now revealed another factor that led to her being placed in treatment – drug abuse.
The 19 year old says that self esteem issues and peer pressure led her to experiment with cocaine in 2010, and that promoters would supply her with drugs and alcohol while visiting clubs and restaurants because they wanted her to come back; essentially, Lovato says they were “kissing her ass.”

In her documentary Stay Strong, which aired on MTV last night, Disney star Demi Lovato opened up to the cameras and explained how she still struggles with the physical and mental issues that put her into a treatment center in 2010.

We all know how open former Disney darling Demi Lovato has been about her struggle with emotional and physical issues, and now Lovato is slamming Disney for an offensive joke about eating disorders made on Disney’s show Shake it Up.
One of the characters quipped, “I could just eat you up, well, if I ate,” and Lovato took to her Twitter account to express her anger with Disney for allowing this type of joke to be aired.

In an effort to give back during the holiday season, Demi Lovato returned to Timberline Knolls in Illinois, the treatment center she entered last year to resolve her issues with an eating disorder and self-harm. By sharing her story with current patients, she hopes to help other women struggling with their own issues realize that they are not alone.
On Sunday, Lovato shared a series of tweets about her visit to her former treatment facility, saying “what an inspiring day… many tears were shed and many memories were brought back.”
