Disney Consumer Products recently launched a nationwide search for the Winnie the Pooh “Storyteller of the Year.” The contest celebrates teaching children creativity and life lessons through storytelling.
“Pooh teaches us about friendship, adventure, and to appreciate the simple things in life,” said Stephen Teglas, vice president of classic franchises for Disney Consumer Products. “Through the ‘Storyteller of the Year’ contest we hope to capture some of these sweet family moments and encourage parents to use their best storytelling abilities to spark their child’s imagination and create long-lasting memories.”

Tokyo Disney Resort celebrated its 30th anniversary Monday, kicking off a yearlong celebration that includes special events at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. This year is being called “Happiness Year” in honor of the ongoing celebrations.

Disney’s social network is expanding once again. Last week Disney Interactive announced the launch of Oh My Disney (OMD), a new blog where classic Disney stories are being adapted for a digital audience.
Fans can already connect with the Disney brand via social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest. Registration for the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend races opened at noon on April 9 and within hours the new Walt Disney World 10K was sold out. The 10K was one of two new events announced for the Marathon Weekend; the second new event is the Dopey Challenge where participants will run the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon for a total of 48.6 miles.

Popular digital invitation site Evite has partnered with Disney’s Spoonful.com (a craft website) to create Disney-themed invitations.
With the new partnership, Evite users will be able to choose from a selection of Disney-themed templates to craft their digital invitations, whether it’s for a birthday party, baby shower or another group event. There are many characters to choose from, including the Disney Princesses, Mickey and Minnie, characters from Cars, Toy Story, Phineas and Ferb, Alice in Wonderland, Tangled, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Shake it Up and Doc McStuffins.

Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, plan to pitch a new Star Wars game to Disney.
Studio Head Feargus Urquhart previously pitched the game to LucasArts, although it never game to be. Game details are remaining tightly under wraps at this point, but Urquhart did say the title takes place between Episode 3 and Episode 4. He also said:

Since Disney’s acquisition of the Star Wars franchise, fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the media giant’s plans for the beloved favorite. While we already knew Disney plans to create the post-Return of the Jedi trilogy, it now appears that they also have plans to make spin-off films starring Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Disney and Vevo have announced a collaboration to focus on family-friendly music videos. Disney will feature music videos from Vevo’s catalog on Disney.com, while Disney will work on creating family-friendly videos for Vevo.com.
Additionally, the two companies will partner to create original music-based programming, including events, live music experiences from Disney recording artists and music video premieres.
