Marvel’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Sets Box Office Record and Disney Announces 2016 Release Date for ‘Captain America 3’

Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier Hulk-smashed box office records during its opening weekend.
The film opened domestically on April 3 and made $96.2 million, giving it the biggest April debut of all time. The Thursday night screenings brought in $10.2 million alone, and the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday box office receipts broke daily records for the month of April.
Overseas the film opened in the No. 1 spot in Russia, China, and Australia. It set a new record in China – making it Disney’s biggest debut in that country.

‘Frozen’ Glides past the $500 Million Mark at the Box Office

Disney’s animated hit Frozen broke the $500 million mark at the box office before the end of 2013, making it the fourth Disney film to reach that milestone last year.
The movie opened Thanksgiving weekend in the United States and has earned a hefty $250 million at the domestic box office since then. The other $250 million has come from the international box office. That means the $500 million box office total was earned in just six weeks.

‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ Grosses $80 Million in Opening Weekend

Did you go see Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful in theaters this weekend? If so, you certainly weren’t alone, as it was announced today that the film grossed $80.3 million domestically in its opening weekend, making it one of the biggest March openings ever.

Disney Becomes First Studio to Pass $1 Billion Domestically in 2012

This weekend, Disney reached an important milestone, as Walt Disney Studios became the first film studio this year to surpass $1 billion in domestic box office grosses. This achievement is largely in part due to the overwhelming success of The Avengers, which has grossed $611.1 million domestically so far.

‘Brave’ Earns #1 Spot at Weekend Box Office, Takes In $66.7 Million

This weekend, the latest Disney/Pixar film, Brave, made its debut in theaters, and Pixar has reason to celebrate once again. The film took the number 1 spot at the box office this weekend, beating out such other films as Madagascar 3 and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
