Disney Announces New Epcot International Festival of the Arts Coming in 2017

A brand new festival is coming to Epcot in January – the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.
This new event starts January 13 and runs through February 20, and includes art, food, and performing arts each weekend.
The festival will feature art from Disney historical artist Mary Blair, Herb Ryman art of Epcot, and current Disney artists such as Joe Kaminski and Costa Alavezos.
Also in the first year of the festival guests will have a chance to experience a collaboration with Disney Theatrical as a new showcase of music and Broadway …

Disney and USO Provide Entertainment for Sandy Relief Workers

In a partnership with the USO, Disney Theatrical Group recently arranged for a little entertainment for service workers in New York City to aide with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The move is part of Disney’s continued efforts to support victims of the storm, which swept through the northeast United States in late October, bringing widespread devastation.

Alton Fitzgerald White to Release ‘Disney My Way’ in October

Alton Fitzgerald White, who plays Mufasa in Broadway’s The Lion King, will be releasing his second solo album next month: Disney My Way.
The album will feature popular Disney tunes from such classic films as Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Aladdin and many more. Additionally, the album features a 12-piece orchestra with arrangements by Jim Abbot. The track list includes:

Disney Names Alan Horn as Chairman of Disney Studios

The former president of Warner Brothers, Alan Horn, has been named the new chairman of Walt Disney Studios. He will take over responsibilities beginning June 11 and replace former chairman Rich Ross, who resigned from the company in April.
Horn’s new responsibilities will extend to Pixar and Marvel as well as Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Studios, which uses Disney for marketing and distribution purposes. Additionally, Horn will oversee Disney’s Hollywood Records and their Broadway division.

‘The Lion King’ Becomes Highest-Grossing Broadway Show in History

Although The Phantom of the Opera still reins as the longest-running show in Broadway history, The Lion King took an important honor from the popular show this week. On Monday, it was announced that the show has surpassed Phantom to become the highest-grossing show in Broadway history.

Jeremy Jordan to Star in Disney’s ‘Newsies’ on Broadway

This week, Disney and Broadway fans excited for the upcoming Broadway debut of Disney’s Newsies received some exciting news. It was announced that Jeremy Jordan, the show’s star during its run at the Paper Mill Playhouse, will be returning to the show for its Broadway run. Dumbo on Broadway?

After a string of semi-hits and outright duds, word in Shubert Alley is that Disney’s in talks to launch another theatrical adventure on Broadway — Dumbo!
Disney’s shopping the idea, but has yet to nail down a director for the show. It seems “Billy Elliot”‘s Stephen Daldry has passed on the option, and other potentials are just in the pipe line for now.
Dumbo, the animated film nominated for an Oscar in 1941, is about a baby elephant whose big ears allow him to fly. The film’s score, by Oliver Wallace and …
