Disney to Release New ‘Fantasia: Music Evolved’ Video Game

This week, Disney announced a new video game inspired by one of the company’s most beloved films, Fantasia. The new game, titled Fantasia: Music Evolved, will be available for Xbox One and Kinect for Xbox 360.
Fantasia: Music Evolved will transport players to the sorcerer Yen Sid’s workshop to “explore a breathtaking world where music and magic combine to transform extraordinary interactive landscapes in entirely new and creative ways.” Players will be able to use motion-free gameplay and the Kinect motion control technology to control the music flow from songs by some …

‘Epic Mickey’ Creator Warren Spector Honored at the Game Developers Choice Awards

Warren Spector, the creator of Disney’s Epic Mickey, received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA’s.)
With a 30 year career in the video game industry, Spector is widely regarded as one of the top game designers in the industry. His career defining work came in 2000 with the release of Deus Ex, a game which went on to earn “Best PC Game of All Time” in 2009.

Free Demo of Disney Universe Available Now on Xbox Live and Playstation Network

Disney Universe, the highly anticipated release from Disney Interactive Studios that hit stores October 25, now has a playable demo available for free on Xbox Live and Playstation Network.

Disney Interactive Studios Strikes Video Deal with YouTube

Disney and YouTube announced an exciting new partnership today that will bring new Disney content to the internet in a new way. The two companies announced the launch of a new co-branded YouTube channel on Disney.com and YouTube, which will feature family-friendly original series.
The partnership comes as part of YouTube’s new original content plan. On October 29, the company announced that the site will be launching dozens of new channels with original content, with help from high-profile entertainers such as Amy Poehler and Jay-Z.

Disney Interactive Announces Black Rock Studio Layoffs

Disney Interactive, who is the parent company of Brighton, U.K.-based Black Rock Studios, has recently announced some layoffs within the company.
Black Rock Studios, the developer of the popular racing game Split/Second,had been in talks to develop a sequel to the game, but the sequel was canned back in December due to Disney Interactive’s restructuring.
Now, a source close to the company says that about 100 jobs at Black Rock Studios are in jeopardy, but that the studio has not shut down the developer completely and apparently has a “secret” project currently …

New Trailer Released for ‘LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game’

Disney Interactive Studios and TT Games have just released a new trailer for LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game, which can be viewed below.
The latest trailer takes us through Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, LEGO-style, but the video game will incorporate elements of all of the POTC movies thus far, including the upcoming fourth installment.
You can expect the video game to be released in May, just in time for the debut of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

New ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Video Game Coming Summer 2011

A new video game based on the upcoming Disney Channel movie starring the wacky characters Phineas and Ferb is in the works for release Summer 2011.
