Disney Announces Updates for Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

The construction at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has been on-going for about a year and Disney just announced some exciting news about changes coming to the resort.
The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are now known as Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, which “accurately reflects the railroad themeing of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge” and works with the story line for the resort, according to Disney.

Rapid Fill Mugs Now Being Used at Walt Disney World Resorts

Back in July our friends at the Disney Food Blog let us know about what appeared to be the arrival of the Disney Rapid Fill Refillable Mug program at the Walt Disney World Resort. At the time, new beverage machines were being installed at various resorts on property and it seemed very likely that the mugs would arrive soon after.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Officially Opens to Guests

This week, Walt Disney World celebrated an exciting new development, as their newest resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, officially opened to guests. The resort, which is considered one of Disney’s “value” resorts, celebrates animation in its whimsical theme and immerses guests in the worlds of some of their favorite animated Disney and Pixar films.
“Our goal was to make guests feel like they have been immersed in the artistry and enchantment of Walt Disney and Disney•Pixar animated classics,” said Walt Disney Imagineer Frank Paris.

New Channel Line Up Coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

Thanks to our friends at WDW Magic for alerting us to this news item!  Guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels will enjoy a much more robust cable TV channel offering in the coming months.
Beginning March 13, the property will introduce many new channels to the current basic block of offerings in the resort hotels.  New additions to the channel lineup will include the following:

Food Network
Fox News
History Channel
National Geographic
Travel Channel
TV Land

The upgrades will take place over a period of two months as follows:

Disney World Free Dining for Fall 2012 Now Available to the General Public

While previously only available to Disney Visa Rewards Cardholders, the Disney Free Dining for Fall 2012 promotion has now been made available to the general public, as well.
In order to take advantage of this offer, you must book your room by May 18, 2012. The free dining program is available from August 25-September 29, 2012, and the free dining plans are based on where you stay. Most Disney resort rooms are included, but this promotion is very limited.

Four Seasons Hotel at Walt Disney World Finally Set to Begin Construction

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts announced yesterday that construction was set by the end of the year on its long-anticipated Walt Disney World Resort project.
The luxury resort, which will include hotel rooms, timeshare units, and private residences, was originally slated for completion in 2012.  However, the project stalled due to the sluggish economy and ensuing global recession.  The Four Seasons company, which is based in Toronto, originally purchased the land for the resort in 2008.

First Look:  Disney’s Aulani Is Open for Business!

During a beautiful Hawaiian sunrise, Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa welcomed its very first guests.
While guests awaited the opening of the brand new resort before sunrise early yesterday morning, Goofy kept them entertained.  Once inside the doors, they were greeted by the resort’s staff, as well as Disney Parks and Resort Chairman Tom Staggs, who was on hand to welcome the resort’s first families.

Disney Considering More Themed Hotel Rooms for Future Renovations

Early last month, Disney unveiled their soon-to-open princess themed “Royal Rooms,” which will debut at the Port Orleans Resort at Walt Disney World. These new rooms are the second chapter in what Disney officials have dubbed “storybook rooms,” and it’s a very real possibility that more of these themed hotel rooms could be on the horizon.

Disneyland Cast Member Collapses and Dies While Working Last Week

In a tragic turn of events, a longtime Disneyland cast member collapsed and died within the amusement park last week.
The man, Philip Doyle of Corona, was 58, but according to Deputy Coroner Larry Esslinger, he died of natural causes. Sources say that Doyle had been previously under the care of a physician for a pre-existing medical condition.
Co-workers became concerned when Doyle, who worked in food services, didn’t return after making a delivery from a kitchen near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. At 1:18 p.m., paramedics received a phone call and …
