Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to Close Temporarily

Sources have announced that the popular Kali River Rapids attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be closed temporarily beginning January 6.
The ride, which was introduced at the park in 1999, allows a group of riders to embark on a “perilous” river rafting adventure, where passengers must battle a raging river until they reach their final destination.
While officials haven’t announced specific reasons for the closure, sources have said that the ride will be undergoing some cosmetic improvements and refurbishments. If more information becomes available, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Star Tours 2 Attraction Features Out-of-this-World Fun

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to visit with friends who were in town at Walt Disney World.  One thing led to another, and we found ourselves at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Friday night, the opening day of Disney Hollywood Studios’ updated attraction, Star Tours.
As we walked into the very crowded park, well after dark, we were greeted by a steady stream of milling fans, and didn’t think there was much chance that we would be able to get near the attraction.  But with time to kill and no real …

While the condition of the unidentified guest is unknown at this time, park officials stated that the cause of her unconsciousness appeared to be as a result of a health issue, rather than an injury or trauma as a result from the ride.

Star Sighting: George Lucas Visits Disneyland’s ‘Star Tours’ Attraction

Could there be higher praise to Disney’s “Star Tours” attraction than the blessing of none of than George Lucas himself?  No, we didn’t think so.
Mr. Lucas, creator of Star Wars, recently visited with Imagineers at Disneyland Park, and took a test voyage (or two) around the galaxy aboard the new Starspeeder 1000.  Apparently, upon landing back on Earth, he signaled the approval of the attraction with a general “thumbs up.”
Before leaving, Mr. Lucas took a moment to chat with his old friend, C-3PO.
Are you looking forward to the new generation of …

Walt Disney World’s Splash Mountain Receives Safety Bars

It’s officially official:  when Splash Mountain reopens today, it will be with newly-installed lap bars.
The move proved necessary for Disney, as they have continued to have problems with guests who attempted to stand or exit the boats before the conclusion of the ride.  “From time to time, we have had guests attempt to prematurely exit the ride vehicle. It is our hope that the new lap bars will prevent this from happening in the future,” said Disney World spokesman Bryan Malenius.
Disney had considered installing lap bars on the boats before, but …
