runDisney Announces the Launch of ‘I Run Disney’ Where Fans Can Share Their Stories

Anyone who has ever participated in a runDisney event – whether it was a 5K or a Goofy Challenge – has a story to share.
To celebrate all the runners and walkers who participate in runDisney events each year, runDisney and Cigna have teamed up and recently launched a new site called ‘I Run Disney.’
To share their story, runDisney participants can use Instagram to upload a 15-second video telling runDisney why they run and why, in particular, they runDisney.

Disney Interactive Introduces ‘Oh My Disney’ Blog

Disney’s social network is expanding once again. Last week Disney Interactive announced the launch of Oh My Disney (OMD), a new blog where classic Disney stories are being adapted for a digital audience.
Fans can already connect with the Disney brand via social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest. The OMD blog is  a mix of old and new content, and Disney Interactive says readers can expect to see opportunities for fan participation on the site and more blog-specific video.

Disney Living Pavilion at D23 Expo to Feature Special Merchandise, Interactive Experiences

With the D23 Expo almost two weeks away, new information about what each section of the Walt Disney Company will be showcasing at the event is being announced faster than ever. Most recently, Disney Consumer Products announced their offerings at the three-day convention. At the division’s Disney Living Pavilion, Expo guests will be able to discover new and exclusive merchandise, participate in interactive experiences, meet the creators and innovators behind the merchandise, and more.

Disney Reaches 100 Million Facebook Fans

Happy Birthday, Walt!  On what would have been the famous founder’s 109th birthday, Disney announced that it had reached the 100,000,000 million fan mark on its network of Facebook pages.
There are more than 200 official Facebook pages, which encompass everything from the company’s theme parks – both Disneyland and Walt Disney World have their own pages – to favorite characters, like Dory from “Finding Nemo,” to divisions, like Disney Pixar.  Each page features specific content and news, as well as original video and links to other official pages.

Disney Officially Announces Playdom Purchase, What Does it Mean For Social Media Gaming?

Disney announced today it’s official plans to purchase the social gaming company Playdom, claiming that the deal should be closed by the end of the 2010 fiscal year. Playdom produces online games like Mobsters, Sorority Life, and Tiki Farm that are played mostly through popular social media websites like Facebook and My Space. ClikZ.com is reporting that the Playdom CEO, John Pleasants, has already been named EVP of the Disney Interactive Media Group.
