The NBA Experience is Coming to Disney Springs

It’s officially official: The NBA Experience is coming to Disney Springs! And to make way for this new experience, DisneyQuest will close on July 3.
The NBA Experience was first announced way back in 2015 and then Disney made no other announcements. Until today.
DisneyQuest will continue to operate normally until July 3.
The NBA Experience will be a “one-of-a-kind basketball-themed experience” where guests can enjoy hands-on activities for all ages.
This new location will also feature immersive NBA video productions, other experiences, a restaurant, and a retail shop.

Planet Hollywood Observatory Now Open

After months of anticipation, the Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs officially opened last week.
The redesigned restaurant has been transformed from its original Hollywood theme to a four-story “star gazing observatory.”
The menu at Planet Hollywood Observatory still features some Planet Hollywood favorites but it’s also been kicked up a notch with the addition of gourmet burgers from celebrity chef Guy Fieri.
Guests can also satisfy their sweet tooth with Supernova Shakes, house-made ice cream and sorbet which is featured in the 12-scoop Cosmic Challenge, and more.

The Week in Disney News: Title Announced for ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’, New DFB Guide Launched, and More

Happy last Sunday in January! It’s been a really long month, right? But this past week was full of exciting news so let’s check it out.

Opening Date Announced for Paddlefish at Disney Springs

After months of waiting, the opening date has finally been announced for Paddlefish at Disney Springs.
The restaurant – housed in the former location of Fulton’s Crab House – is set to open on February 4.
Paddlefish will focus on fresh seafood plus steaks and chops. The entire restaurant has been updated from bow to stern with a fresh, modern look that also features two rooftop bars.
Guests will also be able to enjoy brunch on Sundays.
Reservations are not yet open for Paddlefish but they are expected to start soon.

Reservations Now Open for Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs

The Planet Hollywood Observatory is not yet open at Disney Springs, but guests are able to make Advance Dining Reservations for dates beginning February 1.
There is no official opening date yet for the re-themed restaurant. The original reopening date was in the fall of 2016, but there have been some delays that set the opening date back.
When the Planet Hollywood Observatory opens the restaurant will feature an outdoor bar, Stargazers, in addition to a 4,500 square foot video screen for entertainment.

Rock the Dots Event is Sunday, January 22 at Disney Springs and the Downtown Disney District

This Sunday, January 22, is the first Rock the Dots event at both Disney Springs and the Downtown Disney District.
This event honors Minnie Mouse and her love of all things polka dot. And it also happens on National Polka Dot Day.
Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite polka dot ensemble when visiting the shopping and entertainment districts.
Disney Springs will have special entertainment from 1-5 p.m. at Town Center and guests dressed in polka dots can enjoy several special discounts and offers.

New Characters in Flight Balloon Debuts at Disney Springs

Characters in Flight, the anchored balloon at Disney Springs, has been updated.
Gone are the characters that graced the old balloon and in their place is a design that “complements the recently transformed property” of Disney Springs.
The new design was reportedly inspired by the springs at Disney Springs and the element of water. The colors of the balloon are shades of blue with a scrolling pattern.
Characters in Flight takes guests 400 feet up in the sky while remaining anchored to the ground. The price is $20 per person for guests ages …

Schedule of Events Announced for Pro Bowl Week at the Walt Disney World Resort

The 2017 Pro Bowl game will be played in Orlando on January 29, but the week leading up to the game is filled with activities for fans.
Some of the activities including the NFL Flag Championship, Pro Bowl Skills Showdown, access to the team practices, a football themed fan festival, and more.

Celebrate National Polka Dot Day with ‘Minnie Rocks the Dots’ Events

National Polka Dot Day is January 22 and guests at Walt Disney World and Disneyland can celebrate the fashion holiday at Disney Springs and the Downtown Disney District.
Both shopping districts are celebrating the day by honoring Minnie Mouse and her “impact on fashion and popular culture.”
The #RockTheDots celebration will honor the style of Minnie Mouse with “polka-dotted, mouse-eared fun.”

Splitsville Luxury Lanes Coming to Downtown Disney District in Late 2017

Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District will be home to an all-new Splitsville Luxury Lanes in late 2017.
The location will be the first Splitsville in California and will feature bowling, dining, and live entertainment, just like the Disney Springs location at Walt Disney World Resort.
The dining area will include 635 seats, a large outdoor patio that overlooks the Downtown Disney District, two full-service bars, and 20 bowling lanes.
Splitsville at the Downtown Disney District will be built next to Tortilla Jo’s and will feature a “mid-century inspired design.”
