Disney Consumer Products Releases a Wicked Collection of ‘Maleficent’ Products

Just as Disney’s Maleficent hits theaters, there’s a whole new collection of merchandise inspired by the iconic villain.
The Maleficent product collection includes clothing, cosmetics, toys, designer shoes, accessories, and more.
“The Maleficent product collection embodies both light and dark color palettes of the film’s iconic characters and settings,” said Jonathan Symington, vice president and general manager of licensing for Disney Entertainment and Games at Disney Consumer Products. “From high-end fashions to beautiful dolls and role play, we have produced an enchanting collection to thrill fans of all ages.”

Former Disney Consumer Products Chairman Joins Outfit7

Outfit7, the company behind Talking Friends, recently appointed former Disney Consumer Products chairman Andy Mooney to its advisory board.
Mooney’s accomplishments include reinventing the Disney stores, as well as creating new franchises and growing Disney’s publishing side to become the leader in children’s publishing.

Disney Store Launches First Exclusive Designer Collection, ‘Kidada for Disney’

In collaboration with celebrity designer and Disney fan Kidada Jones, the Disney Store launched an exclusive designer collection: Kidada for Disney Store. The collection features apparel, jewelry, accessories and a limited edition Vinylmation figure, as well as Disney Princess -themed merchandise.

Disney Aspires to Double Licensed Merchandise Sales

In the 2009 fiscal year alone the Walt Disney Company made $27 billion (yes, billion) in sales of licensed products. In a webcast today, Andrew Mooney, head of the company’s consumer-products division, announced that they are aiming to double annual retail sales of licensed products in five to seven years. Disney is counting on big plans to merchandise the newly acquired Marvel characters to help achieve their goal, which could reach as high as $50 billion in product revenue by 2017.
