Disney’s Animal Kingdom Celebrating Spring with Frogs and Other Amphibians

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating spring with a special event that connects families with nature.
On March 4 at Rafiki’s Planet Watch guests have a chance to get up close with amphibians including frogs and toads, and meet the animal experts who care for them. Kids will have the chance to build toad abodes for their own backyards, learn to leap like a frog, and listen to frog calls.

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Launches New Google Earth Site

For the past sixteen years, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) has helped to protect wildlife and their natural habitats. Now, supporters of the fund can learn more about the DWCF’s projects in a whole new way, as Disney launched a Google Earth site for the fund.
The site enables users to take a virtual tour through the projects that DWCF is helping to fund around the world. Using the site, viewers can “visit” locations such as Nepal, to discover ways that scientists are fighting against a decrease in the vulture …

Walt Disney World Cast Members Participate in First Ever Annual Bird Count

Florida Cast Members and their families recently took part in a brand new conservation effort at Walt Disney World:  the property’s first annual holiday bird count.
Inspired by Walt Disney’s vision to set aside nearly one-third of the resort property as a wildlife conservation area, Cast Members and their families took to the wilds, and the surrounding areas, to determine what birds are found in the Central Florida area during the winter.  Cast Members were also able to interact with guests as they went about their volunteer duties, and shared tips …
