Meet Celebrity Hosts from the Live Well Network at D23 Expo

Fans of the Live Well Network will have a chance to meet three celebrity hosts at next month’s D23 Expo in Anaheim.
The Disney/ABC-owned network has announced that Ali Vincent, Joey Fatone, and Ryan Scott will be taking center stage at the D23 Expo and will be at the Expo’s Talent Round-Up area for a meet and greet with fans.

ABC’s ‘Once Upon a Time’ Adds New Cast Member

ABC’s hit series Once Upon a Time has added a new cast member to the mix, and many are speculating that it could be another Disney princess.
The network has hired Sonequa Martin-Green to play Tamara, described as “a charming and likable woman who’s secretly highly ambitious and a fearless leader driven to get what she wants.” Media reports are speculating that this sounds an awful lot like Princess Tiana from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, but Disney is remaining mum on who Tamara’s fairy-tale alter ego actually is.

ABC’s ‘The Neighbors’ Will Air on Disney Channel

ABC’s new show The Neighbors will air four episodes on The Disney Channel in an attempt to expand their audience.
The Neighbors, which stars Jami Gertz and Simon Templeman, focuses on a family who moves into a new neighborhood, only to discover that all of their neighbors are aliens. The show premiered in September to audiences of about 6.5 million viewers per episode. Thus far, 10 episodes have aired.

Walt Disney Co.’s ABC Network Wants to Shut Down Dish’s Autohop

Sources have announced that Disney-owned ABC Network will attempt to shut down Dish Network Corp.’s ad-skipping Autohop feature.
ABC seeks a preliminary injunction from U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain, despite the fact that another judge dismissed a similar claim from another broadcaster two weeks ago. The controversy surrounding Dish’s Autohop feature, which allows viewers to automatically skip advertisements during recorded shows instead of manually fast-forwarding, has many broadcasters claiming it “threatens their very survival.”
While a Dish spokesman declined to comment on the impending injunction from ABC, Dish said in court …

ABC Network Cancels Two Shows

Sources have announced that Disney-owned ABC Network has cancelled two shows: 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort.
Both shows will continue to air their 13 episode order, but the network has declined to order additional episodes of the two dramas. The cancellation of these hour long series means that ABC will now have two one hour gaps to fill their prime time schedule.
As of this writing, ABC has not announced which shows will take the place of the cancelled dramas. We’ll update you when we know more.

Disney/ABC Raises $16.8 Million During Its Day of Giving

During Disney/ABC’s “Day of Giving” on Monday, November 5, the companies were able to raise more than $16.8 million for the American Red Cross to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The “Day of Giving” was held in addition to The Walt Disney Co.’s previous donation of $2 million, as well as their employee donation matching program, which will match all eligible employee donations to relief funds dollar for dollar.

Disney/ABC Wins Two Mobile Excellence Awards

At the 2012 Mobile Excellence Awards, Disney/ABC Television Group’s Media team took home two awards – the prestigious Industry Star Award and The Best Content Extension Made for Mobile award (for “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally Appisode” app.)

Disney to Sponsor Family-Friendly Activities at World Maker Faire 2012

Sources have announced that Disney/ABC Television Group will be collaborating with The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) for the World Maker Faire 2012.
Disney will be sponsoring several family-friendly activities for the faire, including activities inspired by Phineas and Ferb as well as an eco-friendly Disney XD game. Additionally, celebrity chef Carla Hall from The Chew will drop by for a fun cooking demonstration.

ABC Family Renews ‘Bunheads,’ ‘Melissa and Joey,’ ‘Baby Daddy,’ and ‘Switched At Birth’

This week, ABC Family President Michael Riley announced the fate of several popular shows on ABC Family. Hit shows Baby Daddy and Switched at Birth will be returning for a second season and the popular comedy Melissa and Joey will have a third season, while the new ABC Family show Bunheads, helmed by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, has been given a back-order pick-up for additional episodes.

ABC Announces Fall Television Premiere Dates

With August and the end of summer quickly approaching, we’re getting closer to the start of the fall television season, and ABC is gearing up for the season premieres of their new and returning shows. This week, ABC announced the schedule of their fall season and series premieres.
