Disney/ABC Television Promoting Anti-Bullying During National Bullying Prevention Month

This month is National Bullying Prevention Month and Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG) is working to promote way families can prevent bullying.
DATG has partnered with GLSEN, Pacer, and GLAAD to promote the anti-bullying campaign.
At the beginning of the month DATG kicked off the “Choose Kindness” campaign on Good Morning America. This campaign encourages kids and millennials to be the best version of themselves and includes public service announcements on ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior.

New Disney Junior Series ‘Sheriff Callie’s Wild West’ to Debut on WATCH Disney Junior App Before Debuting on Television Network

For the first time ever, a Disney/ABC Television group series will premiere on the WATCH Disney Junior app later before debuting on a network channel.
The Disney Junior animated series Sheriff Callie’s Wild West is set to debut on November 24 for verified viewer on WATCHDisneyJunior.com and the WATCH Disney Junior app. The series is also the first Western for preschool aged viewers.

ABC Debuting Live Streaming Television App

The first live streaming television mobile app – Watch ABC – is being launched by Disney’s ABC network to select markets starting this week.
Viewers in New York City and Philadelphia can try the app for free until the end of June, and after that date it will be available to paying customers of certain cable and satellite providers including AT&T U-Verse, Comcast, Cablevision, Cox Communications, Midcontinent Communications, and Charter. Disney and Netfilx Reach Agreement on Disney Junior and Disney XD Shows

After reaching an agreement with Disney/ABC Television, Netflix is set to begin offering popular shows from Disney Junior and Disney XD. This agreement makes Netflix the only subscription streaming service with rights to these programs.
The shows that will be offered by Netflix in the multiyear agreement include Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, JoJo’s Circus, and the animated series Tron: Uprising.

ABC Family Picks Up New Dramas ‘Twisted’ and ‘The Fosters’ For Summer Debut

This week, ABC Family announced that it has picked up two new drama series, entitled Twisted and The Fosters. The new dramas will begin production this summer, with their television debuts set for this summer.
In a statement, ABC Family president Michael Riley commented:

Disney/ABC Launch ‘Super Speedway’ App

Disney/ABC Television Group are launching a new app: Disney Super Speedway.
The app, available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, is a new racing game where players can race animated characters from popular Disney shows like Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls and Fish Hooks, among others.
Players can choose from three starting characters and earn credits that allow them to unlock additional characters as the game progresses. Disney Executive Anne Sweeney Named Most Powerful Woman in Entertainment

According to the latest rankings from The Hollywood Reporter, Anne Sweeney has been named the most powerful woman in entertainment.
This is the third year in a row that the co-chair of the Disney Media Network and president of of the Disney/ABC Television Group has topped the list. Rankings are assigned based on “revenue generated for their companies, valuation of assets, number of employees overseen, influence within the film and television industries, ability to get projects greenlighted or proximity to greenlight power, general standing and reputation within the entertainment community.”

ABC Family Starts Production on New Comedy Pilot ‘Phys Ed’

Last week, ABC Family started production on a brand-new comedy pilot, Phys Ed. The new series focuses on Ed, a former high school star athlete who returns to his alma mater to teach. Once there, however, he realizes that while he may have changed since graduation, nothing else really has.

Disney to Acquire German Network Das Vierte

Disney will soon be expanding its presence on German television, as the company recently got approval to acquire the German free-TV network Das Vierte. The German TV channel, which Disney acquired from Russian media executive Dmitry Lesnevsky for an undisclosed amount, was previously owned by NBC/Universal.
