Disney VoluntEARS Help Build a Playground for Anaheim Children

Last weekend, Disney VoluntEARS helped build a playground for children, mere blocks away from the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim – and it all happened in just one day.
In collaboration with the City of Anaheim, Anaheim Family YMCA, KaBOOM! and community members, VoluntEARS helped build a playground at Stoddard Park in an effort to give more than 1,000 local children a safe place to play. Disneyland’s Carnation Plaza Gardens to Close Officially on April 30

As we first told you last August, Disneyland’s Carnation Plaza Gardens will close on April 30 to undergo refurbishment, before reopening as the new Fantasy Faire.
Fantasy Faire is billed as “an enchanting village square that will immerse guests in the stories of their favorite princesses.”  The Carnation Plaza Gardens Stage, which is home every weekend to the Jump, Jive, Boogie Swing Party will transform into the Fantasy Faire Stage, and will host stage retellings of Disney fairy tales.

Fully Remodeled Sunglass Icon Store Coming to Downtown Disney District

Just in time for summer, the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort will be getting a fully remodeled Sunglass Icon store!
There are several changes coming to the store, including color-changing lights located at the black storefront entrance as well as a two-way mirror made with two layers of patterned glass. There will also be color-changing LED lights above the millwork as well as bright LED cubes hanging from the ceiling to add a fun vibe.

New Easter Merchandise Arrives at Disney Parks

There are several new Easter arrivals at Disney parks, and with Easter looming on the horizon now would be the perfect time to fill a lucky child’s basket with these new goodies.
First, two new Vinylmation figures have been released. One is a 9-inch figure designed by Monty Maldovan, a Disney Design Group Artist and the second is a 3-inch figure designed by Casey Jones. The 3-inch figure uses an adorable rabbit form, and sources say that this form may be used again in a future release.

Disneyland Resort Offering a Merchandise Showcase for Annual Passholders

Disneyland Resort will be holding a merchandise showcase on Tuesday, giving annual passholders the chance to buy new merchandise to commemorate the makeover of Disney California Adventure before the general public can.
The event will start at 10 a.m. and run until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday in Stage 17, a special events building located in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area. During the event, passholders will be able to get a sneak peek before the official unveiling of the park’s 5 year renovation, which will open June 15.

Disney California Adventure Expansion to Be Complete this June

Yesterday, Tom Staggs, the chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced that the 5-year expansion of Disney California Adventure will be complete this June.
On June 15, Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and Carthay Circle Theatre will finally open. In addition to four new attractions, including Radiator Springs Racers, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi’s Flying Tires and the Red Car Trolley, guests will be able to enjoy additional dining and shopping opportunities.

New Merchandise and Special Guests Coming to SIGNin’ in the Street at Downtown Disney District

In the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, a special weekend event dubbed SIGNin’ in the Street will be held from March 17-18.
The event, designed to celebrate creativity in the deaf community, will offer exclusive new merchandise and special guest appearances, including the new American Sign Language “I Love Mickey” t-shirt.

Disneyland to Pass Out Commemorative Mickey Ears to Guests on February 29

In celebration of One More Disney Day, Disneyland Park will be passing out commemorative Mickey Ears  to guests who visit the resort on Leap Day, February 29.
Quantities of the special souvenir are limited to 2,000, which will be distributed to the first guests who enter the park via designated turnstiles, beginning at 6 a.m.

Disney Parks Expansion to Create Thousands of Jobs

With new additions such as the renovation of Disney California Adventure, the creation of Shanghai Disneyland, and the Fantasyland expansion in Walt Disney World, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is currently experiencing the largest expansion period in its history. While this expansion has obvious benefits in terms of its effect on guests, another important benefit is the new jobs that these expansions will bring.

With the new Disneyland Explorer app for the iPad, users can now experience all of the sights and sounds Disneyland Resort has to offer without ever leaving the comfort of their own home.
Over 100 experiences are shared via the app, including images, interactive touch points and videos that enable users to explore many of the attractions Disneyland has to offer.
