Winners of the 2010 Disneyland Half Marathon

The fifth anniversary of “The Happiest Race on Earth” at the Disneyland Resort had a record number of participants, more than 14,000 runners from every U.S. state and 16 countries made the 13.1 mile journey. A magical competition through the two Disneyland Resort theme parks, along Anaheim streets, running on the field of Angel Stadium, and being cheered on by beloved Disney characters created an exciting race event for both runners and bystanders. A Peek Into Disneyland’s New “Big Thunder Suite” at the Disneyland Hotel

Not your typical cowboy digs, a new 1,400-square-foot luxury suite – fashioned after “The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness,” Big Thunder Mountain – is soon to debut at the Disneyland Hotel. Located on the 11th floor of the “Dreams Tower,” the suite boasts breathtaking views, custom themed design, and luxurious amenities.

New Show to Debut This Fall at Both Walt Disney World & Disneyland

Record Number of Participants Registered for Disneyland’s 5th Annual Disneyland Half Marathon

More than 14,000 participants are registered for Disneyland’s “Happiest Race on Earth” scheduled to be held on September 5th; representing participants from 16 countries and all 50 U.S. states. In true Disney style the 5th annual event has a lot of surprises in store; Disney characters, live entertainment, and finisher medals featuring Sleeping Beauty Castle are a few of the highlights. Disneyland Now Offers Self Service Stroller Rentals

In an attempt to streamline the popular stroller rental service at Disneyland four new self-service kiosks have been added on the Esplanade; in addition to the staffed wheelchair & stroller rental counter. The new kiosks will allow guests to skip long lines & use their credit card to reserve strollers for up to six days. Located right outside the Disneyland Park entrance the kiosks will give guests the option to complete their transaction in either English or Spanish.

7 Year Old Portland Girl Raises Money From Lemonade Stand to go to Disneyland

Julie Murphy, a 7 year old girl from Portland, Oregon raised $1,838.31 at a local arts festival by selling 50 cent cups of lemonade to thirsty visitors. What is she going to do with the money? She’s taking her Mom, Marie Fife, to Disneyland with her! The young entrepreneur had always dreamed of traveling to the Disneyland Resort in Southern California with her Mom and now her dreams are about to be realized.

Skate Legend Tony Hawk Injured at Downtown Disney “Skate Jam” Exhibition

This weekend in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort guests were treated to a free “Action Sports Weekend” event. Sports companies who planned the 3-day event boasted performances by top skate and BMX athletes, including Tony Hawk. Headlining the event was the “Quiksilver Presents the Tony Hawk State Jam,” with a skate exhibition by the legendary skater himself & opportunities for guests to have a private meet & greet session with the star at the Downtown Disney Quicksilver store.

Disneyland’s Classic “Alice in Wonderland” Attraction Closes Temporarily

After the “California Department of Occupational Safety and Health” inspectors noted a lack of handrails needed for maintenance crews who work on an elevated segment of the ride, Disney voluntarily shut down the classic “Alice in Wonderland” attraction which debuted at the park in 1958. A crew is currently installing safety barriers that were recommended by the inspectors to prevent workers from falling off the elevated portion of the ride & Disney hopes to reopen the attraction within several weeks. Disney’s California Adventure Park Hours Extended & Additional “World of Color” Showtime Added to Schedule

Heather Hurst Rivera, Manager of Print and Social Media at the Disneyland Resort, is reporting that a third showing of the popular new “World of Color” display at Disney’s California Adventure park is being added every night from now through Labor Day. The third showing will take place at 11:15 p.m. with the same spectacular effects and fanfare as the earlier shows.
