Movies News – ‘Toy Story 4’ is Happening and ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Gets an Official Title

If you’re a fan of Disney/Pixar films or Star Wars – or both – this was definitely your week.
Two big movie related stories broke from the House of the Mouse on November 6. First, it was announced that Star Wars: Episode VII has an official title – The Force Awakens.
The film wrapped its final day of shooting on Thursday as the announcement was made. Don’t get too excited though – the film still has many months of post-production ahead and it doesn’t arrive in theaters for another year.

ABC Family Announces 15th Annual ’13 Nights of Halloween’ Programming Event

ABC Family is celebrating Halloween with their annual 13 Nights of Halloween programming event.
This is the 15th year for the popular programming event which begins October 19 and concludes on Halloween night, October 31. This year’s lineup includes a new episode of Pretty Little Liars and the premiere of the spinoff series Ravenwood.
Men in Black will also be premiering on the network during the event, as will Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story of TERROR.

Disney Passes the $2 Billion Mark at the International Box Office

This year is on track to be Disney’s biggest year ever when it comes to the international box office.
The company passed the $2 billion mark on August 22, which was the fastest the company has ever reached that mark in a calendar year. This year also marks the fourth consecutive year that the $2 billion mark has been surpassed.

The release of Pixar’s next upcoming film, The Good Dinosaur, may be less than a year away, but Pixar is apparently still making some major changes to the upcoming animated feature. This week, it was officially confirmed that Bob Peterson, the film’s original director, has been removed from the project.

‘The Lone Ranger’ Stumbles at the Box Office, Finishes Weekend in Second Place

The Lone Ranger and Tonto were no match for a reformed villain and his band of merry minions at the box office.
Disney’s The Lone Ranger earned a dismal $48.9 million, ending its debut weekend in second place way behind Universal’s Despicable Me 2 which earned $142 million. Analysts had projected an opening weekend of $90 million for the movie directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Student Fashion Designers Inspired by ‘Monsters University’

Students at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles recently had a chance to work with artists at Disney Consumer Products to create a sportswear collection based on characters from Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University.
The college offers more than a dozen programs including Fashion Design, Toy Design, and Fine Arts, and this partnership with Disney was a chance for students to get real-world design experience as they worked to bring Mike, Sulley, and Art to life through clothes.

‘Monsters University’ Opens at the Top of the Box Office Taking in $82 Million during Debut Weekend

Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University graduated at the top of its class, earning an $82 million during its debut weekend in theaters.
This marks the 14th number one opening weekend for Pixar at the box office. The Disney-owned studio has only released 14 films, which means every film released by Pixar has opened in first place.
Monsters University was playing in 4,004 theaters in the U.S. during its debut weekend and the $82 million box office makes it the second biggest opening for Pixar, just behind Toy Story 3 which earned $110.3 million in …
