New Sense of Africa Tour Debuts at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

A new tour is debuting at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and guests will be immersed in African culture while learning about the animals at the resort.
The Sense of Africa tour is a 3.5 hour tour that starts with breakfast at Boma – Flavors of Africa. The breakfast includes traditional items (Mickey Waffles) and authentic African dishes.
The tour guides will share information with guests including details about the animals and the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes Baby Okapi to the Family

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has welcomed the newest addition to the family – a 35 pound female baby Okapi named Nafuna.
Nafuna, which means “delivered feet first,” has had her first wellness exam and been pronounced healthy. She was born on June 21 to mom first-time mom Zawadi following a 14-month gestation period.
While the new baby and her mom are not available for public viewing just yet, a few months from now visitors to the park will be able to catch a glimpse of the baby Okapi and mother at Animal Kingdom’s …

InnoTech Manufacturing Awarded Contract for Project at Walt Disney World

Creative metals manufacturing company InnoTech Manufacturing has been awarded a contract for an upcoming project at the Walt Disney World Resort. For this project, the company will be furnishing new guardrails, ladders, and roof stairs for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
For this particular project, InnoTech will be creating rooftop access to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is where the guardrails, ladders and the like come in. When the project has been completed, the Lodge will offer rooftop access that spans over the resort’s extended fire walls.

Dr. Jane Goodall to Host VIP Safari Weekend Fundraiser at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Jane Goodall, noted primatologist and conservationist.  And in February, Goodall returns to Disney for a very special weekend fundraising event.
Goodall will host Walt Disney World Safari VIP Weekend, which will take place February 18-21.  And while reservations for the weekend do not come cheap – price per adult is $8500, and price for a child to attend is $7500 – the event is actually a fundraiser for the Jane Goodall Institute, which “empowers people to make a difference for all living things.”  The weekend …

Wilderness Lodge Wins Best Theme Park Hotel Award

Theme Park Insider polls its readers for their yearly Theme Park Insider Awards. This years winner for Best Theme Park Hotel was Disney’s Wilderness Lodge in Disney World.
The Wilderness Lodge is one of Disney World’s “deluxe” resorts. While the Wilderness Lodge is a less expensive option, these resorts can still be quite expensive. Still the resort beat out some stiff competition. From the article:
