Earl of Sandwich Reopening at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District

Earl of Sandwich – the popular eatery in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District – is reopening for a limited time, after closing earlier this year.
The Downtown Disney District location, which was inspired by John Montagu, the Earl who invented the sandwich in 1762, was closed due to the impeding construction of a new hotel in the area.
But now, the sandwich shop will reopen for a “limited time” (no indication on how long that limited time might be) to the joy of sandwich fans at Disneyland.
So, get your sandwiches while you can …

Artist Events Announced for the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort

There’s a slate of new artist events planned for the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort.
On July 21, WonderGround Gallery welcomes Gabby Zapata, Jeff Granito, Jerrod Maruyama, Nidhi Chanani, and Sydney Hanson for an Artist Showcase on from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Jeff Granito, Nidhi Chanani, and Sydney Hanson are debuting new pieces, and Gabby Zapata and Jerrod Maruyama will be singing their recent work.
On July 28 and 29 guest can meet the July artist of the month, Nidhi Chanan, at WonderGround Gallery from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Artist Events Planned for Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District

Several artist events are planned for the next few weeks at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District.
On May 5, the WonderGround Gallery is hosting artists Lorelay Bove and Neysa Bove and Leilani Joy from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. All will be showcasing new works of art.
Ashley Eckstein, author of “It’s Your Universe,” will be at The Disney Dress Shop on May 25 from 3-5 p.m. and WonderGround Gallery from 6-8 p.m. signing copies of her book.
And, on June 9, Dave Perillo, Jerrod Maruyama, Joey Chou, and Mcbiff will be at WonderGround …

Salt & Straw Ice Cream Coming Soon to Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District

A new ice cream shop – Salt & Straw – is slated to open later this year at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District.
The family-run ice cream business from Portland, Oregon, serves up handmade ice cream that’s made “in small batches using the best local, organic and sustainable ingredients.”
Flavors might include Honey Lavender, Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Coffee & Bourbon, Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache, and even Black Olive Brittle & Goat Cheese.

Several Downtown Disney District Restaurants Closing to Make Way for New Disneyland Hotel

Several restaurants at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District are closing this spring and summer to make way for a new four-star hotel coming to Disneyland in 2021.
The following locations are closing as of June 30 (or earlier):

AMC 12 Theatres
Rainforest Cafe
ESPN Zone
Earl of Sandwich
Alamo Rent-a-Car
Starbucks (on the west side only)

There is also reporting that much of the area west of the LEGO store in the Downtown Disney District will be torn down to make way for the new hotel.

Egg-Stravaganza Returning to Disneyland Resort this Month

The popular Egg-Stravaganza scavenger hunt returns to the Disneyland Resort on March 16.
Guests can participate in the spring scavenger hunt through April 1 by purchasing a map and stickers at select merchandise locations at Disneyland Resort.
Using the map, guests search for special hidden “eggs” featuring Disney and Pixar characters and use the stickers to mark their location on the map.
When the map is completed you can turn it in at select redemption locations and receive a special surprise.
The maps cost $5.99 plus tax and they can be redeemed at locations …

Ballast Point Brewing Opening a New Brewery and Restaurant in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District

Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District is getting its first-ever on-site brewery later this year when Ballast Point Brewing opens a new restaurant and brewery.
Ballast Point is a San Diego-based brewer and the Downtown Disney District location is the first location in Orange County.
The menu will feature Southern California cuisine including salads, small plates, flatbreads, and entrees featuring local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients. The dishes will be created to be paired with the beers and will also feature beer in the recipes.

Splitsville Opening at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District on January 29

Splitsville Luxury Lanes is opening January 29 at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District.
The bowling and dining destination will feature a menu that includes some standard bowling alley fare like burgers, and some not-so-standard items including sushi.
The menu will also feature “Macho Nachos;” Poke Bowls that can be customized with tuna, salmon, or tofu; a sweet and spicy chicken bowl; and more.
Classic items like burgers, pizza, and fries are also on the menu all with an “artisanal twist.”
And of course there’s also bowling, lots of bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes.

#RockTheDots to be Celebrated January 18-22 at Disney Springs and Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District

The second annual #RockTheDots celebration is happening at Disney Springs in Disney World and the Downtown Disney District in Disneyland from January 18-22.
This celebration coincides with National Polka Dot Day on January 21 and is a celebration of Minnie Mouse, too.

Mickey Mouse Ray-Ban Sunglasses Return

If you’re looking for a holiday gift for the Mickey Mouse fan in your life, the Mickey Mouse Ray-Ban Sunglasses are once again available for purchase.
The glasses debuted last year and were very popular.
The  new sunglasses feature “polarized grey gradient lenses with that classic black and white Mickey Mouse pattern” on the side of the glasses.
