Disney Awards Conservation Grant to Wetlands Institute

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund has awarded a grant to The Jersey Shore Terrapin Conservation Project, a program through the Wetlands Institute. This project is designed to monitor human impact on diamondback terrapins and help reduce the impact through various conservation measures.
Dr. Lenore Tedesco, Wetlands Institute executive director, says:
We are delighted to be working with DWCF to expand our work to reduce terrapin mortality due to human impacts in our community.  These programs provide the community with opportunities to participate in meaningful and impactful conservation efforts.

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Presented With Award

The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) was presented with the Conservationist of the Year award by the Florida Wildlife Federation.
Manley K. Fuller, Florida Wildlife Federation president, said DWCF earned the award because “of the very generous grants and remarkable efforts provided worldwide and in Florida by the fund for conservation projects, endangered species protection and for excellent research in the field of conservation.”

Disney Gives $100,000 Grant to Environmental Group

The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) has given a $100,000 grant to The Nature Conservancy’s Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future Program (LEAF.)

Disney Awards $5,000 to Appalachian Bear Rescue

A $5,000 grant was given to the Appalachian Bear Rescue (ABR) from The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) in order to help assist ABR in feeding the record number of bear cubs staying with the organization this year.
Thus far, ABR has admitted 33 black bear cubs because of a shortage of food supplies in the Smokies and surrounding areas, leading to more orphaned cubs in 2011 than in previous years.

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Launches New Google Earth Site

For the past sixteen years, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) has helped to protect wildlife and their natural habitats. Now, supporters of the fund can learn more about the DWCF’s projects in a whole new way, as Disney launched a Google Earth site for the fund.
