Walt Disney World Resort Hotels Have Green Lodging Designation Renewed for Three More Years

All Disney-owned and operated resorts in Florida recently had their Green Lodging designation renewed for three more years by the Florida Department of Environmental Prtotection.
This designation recognizes hotels that help protect the state’s natural resources through reducing waste, conserving water and energy, improving air quality, and raising conservation awareness.
The Walt Disney World Resort conserves resources through the use of recycled paper and recycling room key cards and switching to energy efficient lighting. The resorts also distributed unused prepared food through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, feeding more …

Walt Disney World Recognized for Energy Conservation in the State of Florida

The Walt Disney World Resort was recently recognized with Sustainable Florida’s large business best practice award for their work in energy conservation.
In this year alone, Walt Disney World saved enough electricity to power Space Mountain for 35 years, and since 2009 the resort has reduced overall electric consumption by more than 10 percent. This was achieved through implementing new technology and equipment, adjusting operations, and changing cast member behavior.
The company had set a goal to reduce electrical usage by 10 percent and based the goal on its 2006 consumption.

Tinker Bell, the New Face of Energy Conservation

In an effort to inspire today’s youth and their parents to adopt positive energy efficiency practices, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and The Advertising Council have created a new series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) using Disney’s beloved Tinker Bell. The Walt Disney Studios developed the new PSAs as part of a nationwide effort to reduce energy consumption. Designed to educate 8-12 year olds on how to save energy, the PSAs will appear on television, in outdoor advertising mediums, and on the internet.

Walt Disney World Cast Members Help to ‘Lighten Up’ Energy Use

In an effort to embed environmental conservancy into the everyday actions of Walt Disney World cast members & guests, Disney has put a spotlight on managing energy resources effectively, minimizing waste, and conserving water. Through a series of science-based programs & policies, Disney cast members participate to potentially conserve enough electricity to power more than 1,000 homes for a year.
