Final Expedition Everest Challenge Happens May 2 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The final runDisney Expedition Everest Challenge happens Saturday, May 2 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The nighttime event combines a 5K race and a scavenger hunt that includes running, obstacle courses, and puzzles. The race course takes runners through the Animal Kingdom – a park that can be difficult to navigate in the daylight.
The first Expedition Everest Challenge debuted in 2008 as a fall runDisney event and was moved to a spring event just five years ago.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Celebrates Expedition Everest with a Passholder Event

Happy Birthday, Expedition Everest!
The coaster, located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will celebrate five years thrilling and chilling guests next month. And to celebrate the milestone, Disney is giving passholders the opportunity to ride during a passholder-exclusive event.
Pre-registered passholders can sign up online for a special after-hours event to mark the anniversary.  The celebration will take place on Saturday, March 5, from 6-9 p.m.
To learn more, visit disneyworld.com/passholder.  Passholders will be able to sign up starting Friday, February 18, and a tip:  you’ll need to pre-register your pass online in order to sign up.

Bring the Yeti Back to Life! Disney Imagineers Struggle to ‘Unfreeze’ Popular Animal Kingdom Legend

Those who brave the wild “Expedition Everest” ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom know the beast well; a 25-foot tall, snarling, 20,000-pound Yeti who, at one time, would give guests an unexpected thrill as they passed by his impending perch. Unfortunately the Yeti hasn’t been working properly for at least a year now & Disney Imagineers are struggling to ‘unfreeze’ the beast. This complicated animatronic still sits motionless, only lit by strobe lights giving the illusion of movement.
