Disney to Acquire German Network Das Vierte

Disney will soon be expanding its presence on German television, as the company recently got approval to acquire the German free-TV network Das Vierte. The German TV channel, which Disney acquired from Russian media executive Dmitry Lesnevsky for an undisclosed amount, was previously owned by NBC/Universal.
Das Vierte will become Disney’s first free-TV channel in Germany that the company completely owns. Currently, Disney operates Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD and Disney Cinemagic in Germany, which are all pay channels. The company also has a 50% stake in the leading free kid’s …

Disney Fantasy Performs ‘Float Out’ as Construction Continues

Disney Cruise Line‘s latest ship, the Disney Fantasy, celebrated a major milestone in the vessel’s construction Sunday, as the ship underwent its test “float out” in the harbor of shipyard.
Thousands of onlookers watched from shore as Disney’s cruise ship, which is scheduled to make its maiden voyage this spring, made its way out of the enclosed assembly building for the first time, as fireworks were launched overhead.

New Disney Ear Hats Inspired by Epcot’s World Showcase Coming in May

Disney ear hat fans, you’re in luck – five new hats inspired by the country pavilions in World Showcase will be available for purchase beginning in mid-May!
Says Megan Kachur, product developer for headwear:
We wanted to expand our assortment of Disney Parks-inspired ear hats. We have introduced other hats based on attractions like The Haunted Mansion. World Showcase has such great content, and it seemed like we were missing an opportunity to connect with our guests from around the world.

VoluntEARS Treat German Children to a Little Disney Magic

This past Saturday, all eyes were on Papenburg, Germany, as the world watched the Disney Dream float out of her dry dock and into the waiting waters of Meyer Werft’s shipyard harbor.  But as it turns out, the weekend’s festivities didn’t end with the ceremony and fireworks.
On Sunday, over 400 children from the local community were treated to their very own dose of magic:  Disney VoluntEARS hosted a special screening of the movie “Beauty and the Beast” just for them.

Disney Dream’s First Appearance Attracts Thousands

As we told you last week, the Disney Dream was scheduled to float away from its covered construction dock and into the shipyard’s harbor this past Saturday. 
The Dream, one of two new ships that are being built for Disney in Papenburg, Germany, made her first public appearance during a gala “float out” ceremony, complete with fireworks and special guests.  Donald Duck waved from the deck to Mickey Mouse, who waved back from shore, as his newest ship made its way into the harbor.
