ABC to Launch TV Everywhere Streaming Video “Watch” App

ABC is already in the forefront of broadcast technology. They are the first network to sell episodes via iTunes as well as the first to offer free streaming videos on its website. Their upcoming “Watch” app would only confirm ABC’s lead over other networks in this particular oeuvre.
On Tuesday, the New York Times gave readers some details about a new app that Disney subsidiary ABC is preparing to launch. The app, known as a “Watch” app, would allow ABC subscribers to stream live video directly to their smartphone or iPad. …

ABC Announces Fall Television Premiere Dates

With August and the end of summer quickly approaching, we’re getting closer to the start of the fall television season, and ABC is gearing up for the season premieres of their new and returning shows. This week, ABC announced the schedule of their fall season and series premieres.
In addition to such popular returning shows as Modern Family, Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, and Once Upon a Time, ABC’s fall schedule includes the new shows The Neighbors, Last Resort, 666 Park Avenue, Nashville, and Malibu Country. Here’s the official premiere schedule:

French Video on Demand Service Signs Deal with Disney

Last week, we brought you news of Disney’s deal with China’s You On Demand service, a subscription video-on-demand program. Now, the French pay-TV operator Canal+ Group has also inked a deal with Disney to make ABC Studios television series and Disney films a part of their subscription-based VoD service, Canalplay Infinity.
The deal will make several series part of the service, including Grey’s Anatomy, Lost and Desperate Housewives. Canalplay Infinity will also offer approximately 100 films from Disney’s catalog including Pirates of the Caribbean.

Disney-ABC Extends Licensing Deal with Netflix and Amazon

Disney-ABChas extended their licensing deal with Netflix, while creating a separate deal with Amazon to stream Disney content. With the extended Netflix contract, new episodes of Disney-ABC series like Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and others will be available via their streaming service 30 days after air. Other television shows from ABC, ABC Family and the Disney Channel will also be available for streaming.

‘Modern Family’ Earns Five Primetime Emmy Awards, Including Outstanding Comedy Series

Last night’s 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast honored some of the top shows and individuals on television, but no show made quite as much of a splash as the hit ABC series Modern Family. The show, whose third season will debut on Wednesday, September 21, took home five Primetime Emmy awards, the most of any series.

Disney/ABC Television Receive 45 Emmy Award Nominations, 17 for ‘Modern Family’

Earlier this week, nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced by the Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Walt Disney Company is certainly well-represented. Between the ABC Television Network, ABC Studios, ABC.com, Disney XD, and Disney Channel, the company garnered 45 nominations in total.

Star Sighting:  ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Private Practice’ Stars Visit Walt Disney World

The good doctors may have been on vacation, but that didn’t stop Mickey and Minnie from making a “mousecall” on them.
Chandra Wilson, who portrays Dr. Miranda Bailey on ABC’s hit series, Grey’s Anatomy, and Audra McDonald, who plays Dr. Naomi Bennett on the network’s Private Practice, just happened to be at Walt Disney World at the same time recently.  The two joined Mickey and Minnie, who dressed up in their medical finest, for a good-natured photo shoot in front of Cinderella’s castle.

Demi Lovato’s woes during the end of 2010 are clearly not impacting her appeal with fans.

Creative Arts Emmys 2010: ABC Leads Broadcast Networks with 15 Awards; “Wizards of Waverly Place” Movie Wins As Well

The Creative Arts Emmys 2010 were awarded last night, and Disney/ABC’s achievements in television this year were not forgotten. While HBO was the top winner of the night, earning 17 awards, ABC led the broadcast networks with 15 awards.
ABC’s TV programs earned many of the awards, including “Modern Family,” which took home three awards for their casting, picture editing, and sound mixing. “Dancing With the Stars” also earned multiple awards, receiving two awards for hairstyling and technical direction. “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Lost,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “FlashForward” all won one award …
