Schedule Released for Disney Parks and Imagineering Panels at D23 Expo

With the D23 Expo just three weeks away, details and scheduling for what’s in store at the event is coming out more quickly than ever. While plans detailing what Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will be bringing to the Expo were previously announced a few weeks ago, this week brought the announcement of the special Disney Parks and Imagineering panels that Expo visitors will be able to attend. New Details Come to Light Regarding Fantasyland’s Storybook Circus

We’re learning more this week about just how Dumbo’s future home at Magic Kingdom will shape up with the Fantasyland expansion.
Previously, Disney leadership shared concept art of what would become the new “Storybook Circus” part of Fantasyland.  The area will be themed on the popular Dumbo ride, and will utilize the existing attraction, but will also add a second carousel to ease congestion in what is always a crowded area.   This week, however, we’re also learning more about where the ride will be situated, and how it will function.

Video:  Disney Imagineers Offer Sneak Peek Into New Haunted Mansion Queue at Magic Kingdom

One of Magic Kingdom’s most beloved rides is getting an update to its queue area, as the line for Disney’s Haunted Mansion goes interactive.
Guests to the parks over the last few weeks have noted walls erected around the queue area for the popular and darkly funny ride.  Earlier this week, the walls started to come down, and Disney Parks Blog offered a sneak peek video into what the Imagineers have been up to.

FASTPASS Coming to New Mickey Meet and Greet at Magic Kingdom

With the Fantasyland expansion well underway, and Toontown officially closed, we all knew that Mickey and Friends would have to find a new home at Magic Kingdom.  Today, Disney is sharing a few more details about the spot that’s being prepared for everyone’s favorite Mouse.  Check out the beautiful artist’s rendering of what the new space will look like!

Disney Legend Bill Justice Dies at Age 97

Legendary Disney animator Bill Justice died last Thursday in California of natural causes.  He was 97 years old.
The list of Justice’s professional accomplishments are wide and varied, and are recognizable to any Disney fan.  Justice began his career with the Walt Disney Studios in 1937, not long after he had graduated from art school.  While with Disney, Justice animated classics such as Thumper from “Bambi” and Chip and Dale.  He contributed to many well-known works, such as “The Three Cabelleros” and “Peter Pan.”  Justice also worked on three Disney animated shorts …

Blue Sky Cellar Adds ‘Little Mermaid’ Attraction Preview

Guests of Disney’s California Adventure will have an opportunity to view some upcoming magic, as Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar opened a new exhibit today.
Fans will get a first chance glance at “The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure,” the next significant attraction slated for opening at the newly renovated park.  In addition to new models and concept drawings, guests can see:

an artist’s rendering of the hand-painted mural that will cover the wall adjacent to the loading area, which will be 86-feet long;

Disney Offers More Views of New ‘Art of Animation’ Resort

Imagineers provided the public with more pictures of Walt Disney World’s newest resort at a press conference earlier today.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will immerse guests in some of their favorite animated films.  Plans call for the structure to be divided into four wings, each of which will be themed after a favorite film – two from the Disney vault – “The Little Mermaid” and “The Lion King” – and two Disney-Pixar works: “Finding Nemo” and “Cars.”

Disneyland’s World of Color Wins Prestigious Award

Guests and Visitors to Disneyland Resort have been amazed and delighted with the new “World of Color,” attraction, and now the unique show has won its first prestigious award.
On Tuesday, the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) announced that “World of Color” had captured this year’s THEA award for Outstanding Achievement – Nighttime Spectacular.  In a ceremony held during the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attraction’s (IAAPA) annual conference, TEA described the display as “a visual and technical marvel.”  In all, Disney has won 34 coveted Thea Awards over the span of 17 …
