Walt Disney Animation Studios Announces Lineup for D23 Expo

The 2015 D23 Expo in Anaheim is just a couple months away and the Walt Disney Animation Studios recently announced its lineup of events.
On Friday, August 14 fans can attend ‘Every Story is a Journey: The Upcoming Films of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.’ This event is a must-see at each Expo and is once again hosted by John Lasseter, the chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.
At the seminar, filmmakers will unveil footage from The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, and Disney Animation’s Zootopia and Moana.

Movies News – ‘Toy Story 4’ is Happening and ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Gets an Official Title

If you’re a fan of Disney/Pixar films or Star Wars – or both – this was definitely your week.
Two big movie related stories broke from the House of the Mouse on November 6. First, it was announced that Star Wars: Episode VII has an official title – The Force Awakens.
The film wrapped its final day of shooting on Thursday as the announcement was made. Don’t get too excited though – the film still has many months of post-production ahead and it doesn’t arrive in theaters for another year.

Disney Holds Special Screening of ‘Planes: Fire & Rescue’ for CAL FIRE Firefighters

The Disneytoon Studios recently held a special screening of this summer’s Planes: Fire & Rescue for CAL FIRE firefighters.
The studio worked closely with the mean and women of CAL FIRE (the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) while making Planes: Fire & Rescue.

Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger Set to Open D23 Expo, Followed by Animation Presentation by John Lasseter

Next month’s D23 Expo will open with a welcome from Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, and following the grand opening is the first of two arena presentations that are sure to feature some surprises for Disney fans.

‘Disney’s Planes’ from Disneytoon Studios Ready for Takeoff August 9

Disneytoon Studios is gearing up for the theatrical release of Disney’s Planes later this summer. The studio is one of three animation studios under the leadership of John Lasseter, along with Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Disney’s Planes tells the story of Dusty, a plane with dreams of racing and a fear of heights. Dane Cook provides the voice of Dusty as part of cast of all-stars including Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Cleese, and Cedric the Entertainer.

Next Pixar Short Revealed: ‘The Blue Umbrella’

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about Pixar’s next feature film, Monsters University. However, this week brought us our first news about the short that will air in front of the highly anticipated prequel, as Pixar announced their next animated short, The Blue Umbrella.
The Blue Umbrella, directed by Pixar technical artist Saschka Unseld, tells the love story of two umbrellas against the backdrop of a rainy city. The official synopsis reads, “Amidst the rain in a singing city, two umbrellas – one blue, one not – fall eternally in love.”

Disney’s ‘Planes’ to Get a Theatrical Release in 2013

Following the success of the Cars franchise, Disney announced in 2011 that a spin-off of Cars, entitled Planes, was set to be released on DVD and Blu-ray in fall 2013. However, this week brought the new announcement that the computer animated film will now be released in theaters on August 9, 2013.

Amid rumors of Disney Interactive’s “new gaming initiative,” the media and consumers alike were wondering if the speculation surrounding Disney Infinity was mere rumor or an actual reality. Now, it has been confirmed that the media giant will be unveiling the new game next year.

‘Toy Story’ Getting Halloween Special in 2013

The beloved Toy Story brand remains alive and well, and sources have just announced that the beloved characters will be getting a special Halloween feature in time for the holiday next year.
Toy Story of Terror will be created in an anthology format and take on the story of a pseudo-murder mystery. The toys stop at a roadside hotel, but one by one begin to mysteriously vanish. The remaining toys are left to figure out what’s going on before they all disappear.
