Disney XD Announces “LOST”-themed Episode of ‘Phineas and Ferb’

The hit Disney XD animated series Phineas and Ferb is paying homage to the ABC hit series LOST in an all-new episode next month.
In the episode, a mysterious locked capsule falls in Phineas and Ferb’s backyard and they quickly realize they have unleashed something they can’t control.
Perry the Platypus also discovers that Dr. Doofenshmirtz has been abducted and he tracks him to Seattle where Professor Mystery has a sinister plan.
The LOST-themed episode features a story by Damon Lindelof, the co-creator of LOST. It also stars the voices of Terry O’Quinn …

Disney Japan Offering Free TV Shows Online

Broadcast Satellite Disney (the satellite version of Disney Japan) has announced they will begin offering select ABC dramas online for free.
The company will offer 5 series starting on Sunday, including fan favorites Lost and Revenge. Each episode will be available for free for one week. After a total of 70 episodes, the company will end this free service in September.

French Video on Demand Service Signs Deal with Disney

Last week, we brought you news of Disney’s deal with China’s You On Demand service, a subscription video-on-demand program. Now, the French pay-TV operator Canal+ Group has also inked a deal with Disney to make ABC Studios television series and Disney films a part of their subscription-based VoD service, Canalplay Infinity.
The deal will make several series part of the service, including Grey’s Anatomy, Lost and Desperate Housewives. Canalplay Infinity will also offer approximately 100 films from Disney’s catalog including Pirates of the Caribbean.

Disney-ABC Extends Licensing Deal with Netflix and Amazon

Disney-ABChas extended their licensing deal with Netflix, while creating a separate deal with Amazon to stream Disney content. With the extended Netflix contract, new episodes of Disney-ABC series like Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and others will be available via their streaming service 30 days after air. Other television shows from ABC, ABC Family and the Disney Channel will also be available for streaming.

Star Sighting:  Daniel Dae Kim Does Hollywood Studios

Daniel Dae Kim, who last season wrapped a successful run on the ABC drama “Lost,” was spotted today at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, hanging ten with Lilo! Kim is currently starring in the CBS crime drama “Hawaii 5-0.” Both series have been filmed in Hawaii, so it’s certain that Lilo and Kim will be comparing notes on their favorite island hot spots!

Creative Arts Emmys 2010: ABC Leads Broadcast Networks with 15 Awards; “Wizards of Waverly Place” Movie Wins As Well

The Creative Arts Emmys 2010 were awarded last night, and Disney/ABC’s achievements in television this year were not forgotten. While HBO was the top winner of the night, earning 17 awards, ABC led the broadcast networks with 15 awards.
ABC’s TV programs earned many of the awards, including “Modern Family,” which took home three awards for their casting, picture editing, and sound mixing. “Dancing With the Stars” also earned multiple awards, receiving two awards for hairstyling and technical direction. “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Lost,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “FlashForward” all won one award …

Paul Lee Named New President of ABC

Following the unexpected departure of former ABC president Stephen McPherson, Disney announced today that Paul Lee, who has been head of the ABC Family cable channel for the past six years, will take over as the new president of the ABC Entertainment Group. Lee, whose new position will begin immediately, will oversee ABC Productions, as well as ABC Entertainment’s development, programming, marketing and scheduling operations.

ABC President Stephen McPherson Abruptly Resigns

President of ABC Entertainment, Stephen McPherson, announced his resignation from the network yesterday. With his contract set to expire in September 2011, the resignation comes at a surprising time, with only two months until the fall TV season begins and six days until the ABC executives are set to tout the networks newest shows to TV critics in Beverly Hills.
The resignation comes, the Los Angeles Times reports, because of “repeated clashes with his bosses,” such as Anne Sweeney, the president of the Disney ABC Television Group. These clashes were said …
