New Charms from the Pandora Disney Parks Collection to Debut this Spring

In just about two weeks a new collection of charms from the Disney Parks Collection by Pandora will make their debut in the Disney Parks.
The charms include two charms inspired by Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland and Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom. Both are “dangle” charms and feature the resort’s name on the bottom of the castles.
The new collection also includes a sterling silver charm featuring Mickey’s Fun Wheel from Disney California Adventure and a sterling silver charm that looks like Spaceship Earth from Epcot. There’s also a new …

Walt Disney World Increases Cost of Theme Parks Tickets

The price of a one-day ticket to the Magic Kingdom is now over the $100 mark for the first time ever.
Disney announced an increase in theme park ticket prices on February 21 and it was official on February 22. A one-day ticket to the Magic Kingdom is now $105 plus tax.
A one-day ticket to the other three Disney World theme parks increased to $97 plus tax (up from the previous price of $94 plus tax).

Tom Staggs Named Chief Operating Officer of The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company has named Thomas Staggs as its Chief Operating Officer in a move that some see as positioning him to replace Bob Iger in 2018.
Staggs is the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts where he oversees the strategy, operations, and creative development of the parks.
He will continue to lead the Parks and Resorts division as he assumes the role of COO immediately. A successor will likely be named soon to lead the Parks and Resorts division.

Disney Pulls Epcot Starbucks Mug Featuring Purple Monorail

The recently-introduced “You Are Here” Starbucks coffee mugs at Epcot have been pulled from the shelves by Disney.
The Epcot mugs are part of the “You Are Here” series from Starbucks and featured Epcot icons in shades of blue, gray, and purple. The mug also featured the Monorail – with a purple stripe.
That color of Monorail was retired in 2009 after the pink Monorail backed into the purple Monorail, killing 21-year-old Disney cast member Austin Wuennenberg.

Disney Announces 2015 ‘Night of Joy’ Lineup

The 2015 Night of Joy is scheduled to take place September 11 and 12 at the Magic Kingdom and Disney has released some information on artists for this year’s event.
This year’s event will feature Grammy nominees MercyMe, duo For King & Country, Lecrae, and Francesca Battistelli.
Other performers include TobyMac, Skillet, and Jeremy Camp. New to this year’s Night of Joy are Seventh Time Down, I Am They, and Veridia.

New Interactive Queue Set to Debut at Peter Pan’s Flight in the Magic Kingdom

Peter Pan’s Flight – the very popular and always crowded attraction in the Magic Kingdom – is getting an all-new interactive queue.
The entire standby queue has recently gone through a makeover and now includes artwork featuring the Darling family in addition to a recreation of the family’s home, right down to the children’s nursery.
This new queue will also include some high-tech, interactive features like a 3D Tinker Bell and an interactive shadow wall.

New Pin Collections Arriving at Disney Parks Throughout 2015

Disney pin collectors will have several new collections to choose from this year at both Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World resort.
One of the new Disney pin collections is the ‘Best Friends’ collection and each pin will be two separate pins that can be shared between best friends. Another new collection headed to the parks this year is the ‘Wonderfully Wicked’ collection that features iconic Disney villains.
At the Walt Disney World Resort guests can find the ‘Shields of Fantasy’ collection where each pin opens to reveal a Fantasyland-inspired character.

Carousel of Progress Celebrates 40th Anniversary this Week at the Magic Kingdom

This week marks the 40th anniversary of the Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom.
The attraction is a fan favorite and features that earworm of a theme song, “There’s a Great, Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”
The Carousel of Progress was originally sponsored by General Electric when the ride opened in 1975 at the Magic Kingdom and featured the theme song “The Best Time of Your Life.” This was a change from the attraction’s original theme song.

DVC Member Sales Begin January 12 for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Disney Vacation Club members can purchase interest in Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows starting January 12. General sales for the new DVC property begins February 9.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows includes the Bora Bora Bungalows and the connecting Deluxe Studios.
