Disney Parks Around the World Celebrated 50th Anniversary of ‘it’s a small world’

The 50th anniversary of ‘it’s a small world’ was celebrated this week with a global sing-along and other special events around the world.
The celebration started on the morning of April 10 when thousands of guests and cast members at Disney Parks worldwide united to sing the iconic theme song for the beloved attraction.

Tickets for 2014 Night of Joy at the Walt Disney World Resort on Sale Now

Tickets for the 2014 Night of Joy event at the Walt Disney World Resort are now on sale.
The event is scheduled for Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 at the Magic Kingdom and it features some of the top names in Christian music.

Anna and Elsa from Disney’s Frozen to Meet Guests at Princess Fairytale Hall Beginning April 20

Anna and Elsa are moving to the Magic Kingdom.
The ice queen and her sister – stars of Disney’s Frozen – have been meeting guests at a special location in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion for the past couple of months.
Now, the popular duo is making the move to Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom. They will be joining other Disney Royals as they meet their loyal subjects.
And, unlike at the current Epcot meet-and-greet, guests will be able to utilize FastPass+ service to schedule a time to meet Anna and Elsa.

Disney Centerpiece Announced as One of the Stores for the Marketplace Co-Op in Downtown Disney

Last fall Disney announced a new retail location at Downtown Disney Marketplace called the Marketplace Co-Op that would be showcasing new and innovative Disney retail concepts.
When it opens, the Marketplace Co-Op will be the home of six retail locations including: Beautifully Disney, Cherry Tree Lane, D-Tech on Demand, The Trophy Room, Centerpiece, and Zoey and Pickles.
Disney Centerpiece – a home goods shop – will be selling home products that are inspired by Disney attractions and attraction posters.

Disney Parks Announces 24-Hour ‘Rock Your Disney Side’ Kickoff to Summer on Both Coasts

Walt Disney World and Disneyland are ready to kick off the summer season with the ultimate 24-hour party in May.
Last week, 140 Disney characters assembled at Walt Disney world to create the ultimate Tweet hashtag to announce the ‘Rock Your Disney Side: 24 Hours’ party on May 23-24.
The party is planned for both coasts and guests are invited to dress as their favorite Disney hero or villain.

Magic Kingdom’s Central Plaza Area to be Expanded

The always-crowded Central Plaza – or hub – area at the Magic Kingdom is about to get a facelift.
Disney announced last week that the Central Plaza area between the end of Main Street U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle is going to be expanded.
The expansion will include sculpted gardens, more pathways for guests, and more restaurant seating.
The two restaurants that are going to benefit from this expansion are Casey’s Corner and The Plaza. The outdoor seating for both of these locations will nearly double in size when the project is complete.

Three-time Olympian Kim Smith Wins the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon

Three-time Olympian Kim Smith won the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 23, and also set a new course record.
Smith crossed the finish line in 1:11:49, nearly 15 minutes before any other runner, and breaking the previous course record of 1:17:38 – set last year – by six minutes.
Smith is a native of New Zealand and is also an elite runner with New Balance. She said the highlight of Sunday’s race was the chance to run through the Disney parks.

Walt Disney World Raises Price of Theme Park Tickets

It’s going to cost a little bit more to visit the Walt Disney World theme parks.
For the second time in less than a year, Disney has raised the price of a single day park admission for all four theme parks in Orlando.
A one-day ticket for the Magic Kingdom will cost $99 for guests age 10 and older. This $4 increase makes the Magic Kingdom the most expensive Disney park.
One-day tickets for Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios increased in price from $90 to $94.

Whimsical and Contemporary Festival of Fantasy Parade Debuts in March at the Magic Kingdom

The Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is set to debut next month at the Magic Kingdom with 100 performers and brand new floats, all in a tribute to Fantasyland.
The parade is the first in a new generation of Disney Parks parades and includes new technology, a new musical score, and floats that are three stories tall.

PUSH the Talking Trash Can Has Been Removed from the Magic Kingdom

After nearly a week of rumors regarding its departure and fans attempting to save it, PUSH the talking trash can has been removed from the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.
The animatronic trash can – a fan favorite – was owned by Real Simple Ideas LLC, an Orlando-based product development company. The demise of PUSH came down to a failure to renew a contract between Disney and Real Simple Ideas LLC.
