“Tron: Legacy” Prequel Will Come in Form of a Comic Book

For Disney’s first release under it’s ownership of Marvel, Disney will be releasing something familiar to Marvel fans… a comic book. “Tron: The Betrayal” will serve as a two-issue prequel to the upcoming “Tron: Legacy” film. FlickDirect.com is reporting that the comic will come out after the December release of the “Tron” Legacy” movie, Kevin Flynn will be reunited with Tron while also maintaining both “Encom” and “the Grid.”

Marvel to “Do Some CrossGen Stuff”

CrossGen was another Rising-Star-Goes-Bankrupt story…until today. At Comic-Con’s “Cup O’ Joe” panel with Marvel Chief Joe Quesada, an image of CrossGen’s “Sigil” logo appeared, along with the date, “2001.”
Launched in 1998 by Florida entrepreneur Mark Alessi, CrossGen burst onto the scene with a production plan different from any other comics company and a roster of broadly appealing characters and genres. Marvel Creates Small-Screen Division

Marvel is going into television, it seems. The company, newly-owned by Disney, has created a TV division, which will be overseen by TV writer Jeff Loeb. According to the recent Hollywood Reporter article,
Loeb, who most recently worked as a co-exec producer of NBC’s “Heroes,” will oversee the translation of Marvel’s popular characters and stories to the television medium, in both live-action and animation formats. Loeb will also oversee the development and distribution of live-action, animated and direct-to-DVD series.

Disney-Marvel May Introduce Characters in Short Films

Latino Review has reported rumor that Disney will begin introducing second-tier characters via short films, not unlike the short films released by Pixar, which preface their full-length features.
Got a scoop from a well trusted source that Marvel/Disney are looking at doing 10 minute short films in front of their feature length movies that will introduce secondary characters like Black Panther, Luke Cage, Dr. Strange, etc.

Marvel Characters to Appear in Disney Parks? Sounds Likely.

At the blue carpet premier event for Disney’s highly-anticipated “World of Color” show in California Adventure Geoff Boucher, “Los Angeles Times” Entertainment blogger, asked Disney President & CEO Bob Iger if guests were going to see Marvel characters in the Disney Parks anytime soon. Disney’s 2nd Quarter Net Income Up 6% From Last Year, Thanks to Alice in Wonderland & Marvel

Despite a 3% after-hours share slip, Disney’s 2nd Quarter net income numbers surpassed Wall Street analysts’ expectations of 45 cents per share. Disney’s President & CEO Bob Iger, in a live webcast today, boasted that second-quarter net income was $953 million, or 48 cents a share, compared with $613 million, or 33 cents a share, for the same period a year ago.

Zac Efron to Star in Film Adaptation of Marvel’s “Fire”

Zac Efron continues his efforts to move into more adult film roles. His latest effort is an adaption of Brian Michael Bendis’ graphic novel “Fire,” according to a recent report.
Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Efron will take the starring role as a college student who is recruited by the CIA. The complication occurs when he is subsequently marked for termination by the CIA.
