We’re inching ever closer to the holidays, and Walt Disney World is in full-on celebration mode right now with holiday parades, parties, and merchandise.

Meg Crofton Announces Plan to Retire in June 2015

Meg Crofton, the president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ operation in the United States and France has announced that she is retiring as of June 1, 2015.
Crofton has worked for The Walt Disney Company for 35 years and is currently working at company headquarters in California. She has overseen park operations for the past three years.
Prior to her current role, Crofton was the president of the Walt Disney World Resort from 2006 until 2011. She was the fourth executive to lead the Walt Disney World Resort since it opened …

AT&T Becomes Official Wireless Provider for Disney Parks

Disney Parks and AT&T have announced that AT&T is now the official wireless provider for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland.
This agreement gives AT&T marketing and branding opportunities including sponsorship of Disney soccer events and runDisney events at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
In addition to the marketing opportunities, Disney will work with AT&T to educate cast members and guests about AT&T’s “It Can Wait” initiative that educates consumers about the dangers of texting while driving.

Walt Disney World Moms Panel Gets Name Change

Sources have announced that the Walt Disney World Moms Panel has received a name change: The Disney Parks Moms Panel.
In addition to the name change, Disney has also released the list of the 19 new members who have joined the ever-expanding panel. For 2013, the company has also added two Team Sports Moms who will help assist guests with all youth-related activities at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Walt Disney World Gets New President Amid Theme-Park Management Reassignment

On Wednesday, The Walt Disney Co. reassigned several of their senior theme-park management personnel, including appointing a new president for Walt Disney World.
George A. Kalogridis, currently the president of Disneyland Resort, will make the move to the east coast to take over as president of Walt Disney World Resort. He will take over for Meg Crofton, who will now focus on her position as president of all Disney theme parks throughout the U.S. and Europe. Walt Disney World Gives Gift to Florida Food Bank

On Sunday, Walt Disney World presented a $30,000 gift to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida – specifically, their Kids Cafe program.
The Kids Cafe program provides nutritious meals to over 900 local children, and Walt Disney World’s gift helps further the food bank’s goal. Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations, presented the gift.

Four Seasons Orlando Officially Breaks Ground at Walt Disney World Resort

The luxury Four Seasons Resort coming to the Walt Disney World Resort officially broke ground this week, and construction was kicked off with Mickey Mouse, President of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations Meg Crofton, and joint venture partners Silverstein Properties and Dune Real Estate in attendance.
Once the hotel has been constructed, it will have 444 rooms, a spa with 18 different treatment rooms for guests, as well as a “lazy river” and three pools. Additional amenities will include tennis courts, a climbing wall, and other sports facilities.

Week in Review: Walt Disney World Turns 40, and Food and Wine Fest Opens with a Little Race

Last week was quite the week for Walt Disney World enthusiasts. And a week later, I’ve just about recovered from all of the fun. Whew!
I’m not sure what else could have been packed into the opening weekend of October.  But we had fun celebrating each and every milestone from last weekend, and couldn’t rush forward into this 40th anniversary year without taking one more look at one spectacular weekend.

Happy 40th Birthday, Walt Disney World!

This morning, we were on hand to celebrate the birthday of the Happiest Place on Earth – Walt Disney World!  The festivities kicked off early, as the crowd on hand for rope drop at the Magic Kingdom soon swelled to security, causing the park to begin operation of the turnstiles early.

Disney Leadership Undergoes Major Structural Changes in the Wake of Al Weiss Departure

As he previously hinted, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs is taking the opportunity that Al Weiss’ retirement created to shake up the leadership at Disney Parks and Resorts.
When Weiss announced his retirement last month as the president of worldwide operations for Disney Parks and Resorts, Staggs stated that a new operation structure would be created in the next few weeks.  Now, we are starting to see what changes are coming, vis a vis the new structure.
