“Beauty and the Beast 3D” Postponed Indefinitely

If you’re waiting for an official release date for the 3D version of “Beauty and the Beast”, then you might find yourself in for a long wait. While a teaser trailer was released in late July of this year for the film’s release in New Zealand, Disney has recently pulled the plug on its plans to re-release the 3D converted 1991 hit movie in US theaters.

Ramona and Beezus Reviews

Will lukewarm reviews derail the opening of Ramona and Beezus?  The film currently has a rating on Rotten Tomatoes of 48% although this is fluctuating as the film approaches its July 23 opening.  Does this bode ill for the Selena Gomez vehicle?
Fox  is likely to be unconcerned with the numbers.  It’s hard to believe that the target market for this film is overly concerned with the opinions of critics.  However some suggest that it may in fact do better as a DVD than it does in theaters.  According to the …

Disney Plans Live Action Cinderella

Disney recently shelled out a seven-figure amount to pick up the rights to a live-action Cinderella adaptation. This on the heels of the blockbuster live-action version of Alice in Wonderland, and in the mix with the adaptations underway from numerous studios of The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and other fairy tale stories.
The winner in this deal is Aline Brosh McKenna, screenwriter for The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses, who pitched the story to Disney. Simon Kinberg will produce the film. Brosh McKenna and Kinberg worked together previously on …

Brad Bird to Direct Mission:Impossible 4

According to the film’s producer, Tom Cruise, Brad Bird of Pixar fame will be directing Mission:Impossible 4.
“The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille – Brad is enormously talented and JJ and I are having a blast, cranking away,” Cruise continued. “We’re having a lot of fun. I like working with people I just love hanging out with. You get to hang out and laugh and talk stories and movies and technology: what are we going to do?”
You’ll be able to see Mission:Impossible 4 in theaters in 2011.

Angelina Jolie Rumored in Maleficent Role

Rumors are flying about Angelina Jolie’s potential involvement in Disney’s upcoming live-action film, Maleficent. The story will tell Disney’s classic “Sleeping Beauty” tale from the villain’s perspective.
Both Tim Burton and Angelina Jolie had last spring been rumored to join the project, which Disney has been kicking around for a while as a way to mine its library, among other things. “Captain EO” Returns to Disneyland Tueday, February 23rd

The date has finally been released for Michael Jackson’s “Captain EO” to return to Disneyland. Given the nostalgia after the star’s death, Disney has decided to present a limited engagement of the movie. The movie will begin showing at Disneyland on February 23rd.

Zac Efron to Star in Film Adaptation of Marvel’s “Fire”

Zac Efron continues his efforts to move into more adult film roles. His latest effort is an adaption of Brian Michael Bendis’ graphic novel “Fire,” according to a recent report.
Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Efron will take the starring role as a college student who is recruited by the CIA. The complication occurs when he is subsequently marked for termination by the CIA. Bendis, the original author of the graphic novel, will handle the screenplay duties and seems pleased with the outcome.

Selena Gomez’s Potential Payday

While Selena Gomez might not be making the kind of money Miley Cyrus is, it may only be a matter of time.
TMZ is reporting that Selena Gomez is only earning $65,000 salary for her work in Ramona and Beezus, however if the film is a smash those numbers could be changing quickly.  Depending on how much the movie makes, Gomez could rake in between $250,000 and $1,000,000.
