MyMagic+ Reportedly Heading to Disneyland in the Near Future

MyMagic+  and the corresponding MagicBands are headed to the West Coast.
According to report, Disney Parks Chairman Tom Staggs told the Orlando Sentinel that the MyMagic+ technology will be available at Disneyland in the near future, most likely by next year.
Guests at Walt Disney World Resort have been using MyMagic+ and the MagicBands for a little more than a year.
The system allows guests to make FastPass+ reservations prior to their Disney vacation and the MagicBands serve as their park tickets, FastPass+ tickets, and it can also be used to pay for …

Apple Pay Coming to Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Store

Guests with the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus who are visiting Walt Disney World this fall will have a new way to pay for merchandise.
At this week’s Apple product announcement it was revealed that Apple Pay is headed to Disney World in October.
The new system allows purchases to be made in a single step with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple Pay supports major credit cards including American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. Disney joins other Apple Pay retailers including McDonald’s, Subway, Whole Food Markets, and Macy’s.

Walt Disney Company Executive Who Led MyMagic+ Development Announces Plan to Leave Company

The Walt Disney Company executive who led the development of the MyMagic+ project has announced that he is leaving the company.
Nick Franklin is the executive vice president for next-generation experiences at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and he’s leaving Disney in July. He has worked for the company since 1996.
Franklin was chosen by Disney in 2009 to lead the “NextGen” project which became the MyMagic+ technology project that includes the new FastPass+ reservation system and the MagicBand wristbands that Walt Disney World Resort guests are now using.

Walt Disney World Guests Can Now Add Additional FastPass+ Selections

Beginning today, April 28, guests at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks have the ability to add additional FastPass+ entitlements once they have used their first three.
In the “original” FastPass+ system, guests could only have three FastPass+ entitlements per day, and only at one park.
Under the updated system, once a guest has used their first three FastPass+ entitlements at one of the theme parks they can visit a kiosk at the park and add one additional entitlement. Once that FastPass has been used they can select another, and so …

MyMagic+ Now Available to All Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Guests and One Day Park Guests

MyMagic+ appears to be moving out of the “test” phase at the Walt Disney World Resort as the service is now available to all guests, including one-day visitors.
Disney has announced that guests who are visiting the theme parks for just one day are now able to utilize the MyMagic+ service before their visit. This includes the ability to register at My Disney Experience online, reserve FastPass+, and purchase MagicBands on site.

Bob Iger Responds to Privacy Complaints About MyMagic+

A couple of weeks ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger was forced to respond to concerns about the “magic” wrist bands guests will use as part of Disney’s MyMagic+ program. One particular member of Congress, Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass) sent a letter to Disney’s chief expressing concerns about the data gathered from the use of the bracelets and how this would adversely affect children.

Disney Unveils MyMagic+

Disney Parks are working hard to simplify the guest experience, and will be rolling out a collection of new features over the next several months called MyMagic+. With this new collection of tools, guests will be able to plan their vacations in advance while making their visit to the parks as easy as possible.
