End of an Era:  “Tangled” to Be the Last Disney Fairy Tale

Though we know better than never to say never, Disney has indicated that “Tangled” is to be the studio’s last foray into a much-loved – and very lucrative – genre:  the fairy tale.  In an attempt to broaden its appeal to audiences, Disney Animation says that it will continue to turn its attention to movies and characters that draw in a wider demographic (read:  boys.)

‘Princess and Me’ Dolls to Compete with ‘American Girls’ Line

Just in time for Christmas, Disney is introducing a brand new way to experience their iconic princesses.  A new line of “friend dolls,” complete with accessories, are making there way into the stores, and presumably onto Christmas wish lists everywhere.
The category of dolls, characterized by figures that are 18 inches tall and are more appealing to five to eight year olds, has been dominated by the American Girls dolls, which are manufactured by Mattel.  The major difference between the Princess and Me dolls and American Girls?  Price:  Princess and Me …

Fantasyland Plans Are Changing, Says Disney Parks Chairman

According to an Orlando Sentinel interview, the rumors that Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs and team are redrawing the plans for Disney World’s Fantasyland Expansion are true.
Disney World is coming under heavy scrutiny as neighboring Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure continues to draw record-breaking crowds to the newly opened Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which appeals strongly to both boys and girls.
