The Walt Disney Studios, ABC Television Earn Nominations from The Producers Guild of America

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) recently announced nominees for the 2014 PGA Awards, and both ABC and The Walt Disney Studios received nominations.
Ten films were nominated for the Guild’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures including Saving Mr. Banks (producers Ian Collie, Alison Owen, and Philip Steuer).
The last six Best Picture Oscar winners had previously won the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck award – which means if Saving Mr. Banks wins it has a good chance of winning again on Oscar night.

The Walt Disney Company Reports Fourth Quarter Earnings

Last week the Walt Disney Company reported a positive end to the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2013 which ended on September 28.
In the report, the company reported a 7 percent increase in revenue for the year to a record $45 billion and an 8 percent increase in net income to a record $6.1 billion.
“We’re extremely pleased with our results for Fiscal 2013, delivering record revenue, net income and earnings per share for the third year in a row,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company.  …

Disney Channel Going Mobile

The Walt Disney Co. has plans to launch a mobile app that will allow Comcast Corp subscribers to watch Disney Channel on the go, sources say.
Disney CEO Robert Iger says the app will be made available as early as next week and will work similar to the company’s WatchESPN service. At first, this app will only be available to Comcast subscribers who will have to be “authenticated” in order to watch Disney Channel on their mobile devices.

Disney Hopes ‘Cars Land’ Brings Disney California Adventure Up to Speed

Disney California Adventure has never lived up to the standards the company was hoping for when the park officially opened in 2001- dismal attendance numbers can attest to that. Walt Disney Company to Create Jobs for Returning Veterans

Recently, The Walt Disney Company announced their intentions to set a company-wide initiative to create jobs for 1,000 returning veterans. These jobs are expected to be created/filled within the next three years, and are part of a program Disney has instated to help service members and their families adjust to civilian life.
In addition to hiring veterans for jobs within the company, Robert Iger, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, says the company will also be investing in several nonprofit groups designed to provide training and support for veterans.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Joins Apple’s Board

On Monday, it was announced that President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company Robert A. Iger would be taking on a role as a member of the board of Apple, Inc. Arthur D. Levinson also became Apple’s new chairman, succeeding Steve Jobs, who passed in October.

Iger Discusses the New Disney.com and Future of Digital Entertainment

In a discussion yesterday at the All Things Digital conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Disney CEO Robert Iger explained the upcoming retooling of the Disney.com website. The site, which has undergone multiple iterations over the years, will soon become an “uber-network” for all aspects of the Disney company. Disney CEO’s Pay Increases by Thirty-five Percent

2010 was a good year to be Bob Iger.
The Walt Disney Company Chief Executive saw an increase in pay in 2010 of 35%, jumping to $16.3 million from $12 million the year before, bringing his total compensation to $28 million.  The increase by the board of directors’ compensation committee was in recognition of Iger’s “exceptional performance” during a year otherwise marked by a slow economy.
