‘Frozen’ and Marvel Part of the Expansion Plan at Hong Kong Disneyland

Disney has announced a major expansion for Hong Kong Disneyland.
The plans were approved by the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region and construction is slated to start in 2018 and wrap up in 2023.
The expansion includes a Frozen-themed area where guests will be transported to Arendell; a Marvel-themed area with new attractions and entertainment featuring popular Marvel superheroes; and a new area called Moana’s Village Festival that will feature new entertainment options.
The park’s iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle will also be transformed to showcase new daytime and nighttime …

‘Remember…Dreams Come True’ Returns to Disneyland Park in February

A fan-favorite fireworks spectacular is returning to Disneyland Park on February 3.
‘Remember…Dreams Come True’ debuted in 2005 as part of the 50th anniversary of Disneyland Resort and the fireworks spectacular returns in 2017.
The fireworks show features Tinker Bell’s flights, fireworks, music, and special effects taking guests through the lands of Disneyland. The show also features archival audio tracks, songs, and more from the park’s attractions.
Special features include ‘Shenandoah’ representing Rivers of America, flames during the Indiana Jones Adventure segment, and even Star Wars music representing Star Tours.

runDisney Gives Sneak Peek at Inaugural Disneyland Paris Half Marathon Finisher Medals

The inaugural Disneyland Paris Half Marathon weekend is September 23-25 and runDisney has released a sneak preview of the finisher medals.
The medal for the Castle to Chateau Challenge features Sleeping Beauty Castle plus the American and French flags.
This Castle to Chateau Challenge includes the half marathon and one other runDisney races at Disneyland Paris.
The finisher medal for the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon features Mickey Mouse running past Sleeping Beauty Castle, while Chef Remy is features on the Disneyland Paris 5K medal.
And the runDisney Kids Races medal also features Mickey Mouse.

‘LIVE with Kelly and Michael’ Heading to Disneyland Resort in May

The morning talk show LIVE with Kelly and Michael is headed to Disneyland for five shows airing in mid-May.
The show’s hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan announced the West Coast trip during the April 21 broadcast of the popular morning show.
Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle will be the backdrop during all five shows recorded at the theme park from May 18-22.
The weeklong visit by Ripa and Strahan will be capped off with the 24-hour party at Disneyland that starts at 6 a.m. PT on May 22. (A similar 24-hour party starts …

D23 Expo Design Challenge Announced in Honor of Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration

As part of the Disneyland Diamond Celebration, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is giving Disney fans that chance to design their own Sleeping Beauty Castle in the D23 Expo Design Challenge.
Participants in the challenge will be able to use a variety of mediums to create their castle and 23 finalists will have their creations displayed at the D23 Expo in Anaheim from August 14-16.
The first place winner will receive a cash prize of $2,300.

New Charms from the Pandora Disney Parks Collection to Debut this Spring

In just about two weeks a new collection of charms from the Disney Parks Collection by Pandora will make their debut in the Disney Parks.
The charms include two charms inspired by Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland and Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom. Both are “dangle” charms and feature the resort’s name on the bottom of the castles.
The new collection also includes a sterling silver charm featuring Mickey’s Fun Wheel from Disney California Adventure and a sterling silver charm that looks like Spaceship Earth from Epcot. There’s also a new …

The Stanley Cup Visits Mickey Mouse at Disneyland Park

To celebrate the LA Kings NHL championship win, the Stanley Cup has been touring various parts of the Southern California area recently.
On Tuesday, the iconic cup made a stop at Disneyland Park to visit two icons: Mickey Mouse himself and Sleeping Beauty Castle! Mickey took the time to pose for a photo outside the castle with the cup, and looks particularly happy to do so.

Disneyland Designer Stan Jolley Passes Away

Stan Jolley, one of the original art directors who designed Disneyland Park, has passed away due to gastric cancer. He was 86.
During his career with the Disneyland design team, Jolley worked on numerous projects including the Golden Horseshoe Saloon in Frontierland, the Autopia ride in Tomorrowland and the Storybook Land Canal Boats attraction. He also helped design the interior of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Fantasyland.
After working as a designer for the company, Jolley then went on to work on several Disney t.v. and film projects. He left Disney in 1960, …

Rose Bowl Contenders Spend Day at Disneyland

In a tradition that dates back over fifty years, Disneyland played host to the two collegiate teams that will compete in one of the biggest bowl games:  the Rose Bowl.
Members of the University of Wisconsin Badgers joined players from Texas Christian University’s Horned Frogs in a brief ceremony on Sunday, held in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.  Each team received crystal replicas of the Disneyland landmark to commemorate the occasion, before heading out to have some fun on the park’s rides.
