Official Closing Date for Snow White’s Scary Adventures Announced

Work continues to progress on the Fantasyland expansion at Magic Kingdom theme park, which means park guests will need to say goodbye to a beloved Walt Disney World attraction – Snow White’s Scary Adventures.
The attraction, which has been a fixture at the park since 1971, will close for good on June 1, 2012 to make room for a new Disney Princess meet-and-greet location. Those who love the classic ride will be able to enjoy a new Snow White-themed attraction, however – the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster.

Portion of Storybook Circus to Open Late March at Magic Kingdom

Work is progressing on the Magic Kingdom’s new Fantasyland, and sources tell us that a portion of Storybook Circus will be open sometime in late March.
One of the elements visitors can expect to see during the opening will be the first carousel of Dumbo the Flying Elephant, which will also feature multicolored circus tents and other decor inspired by the Disney film. Once the entire section is complete, Casey Jr., the locomotive from the film, will make an appearance as well.
Aside from Storybook Circus, the Disney Princesses will be getting …

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Sign Spotted at Magic Kingdom — Correction

CORRECTION –This sign is the name of the current attraction gift shop, and, alas, not a harbinger of the new ride to come. Thanks to our readers for pointing out our error!
While walking through Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland at Walt Disney World on Saturday, I saw a sign for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
While the walls are certainly still firmly in place for the Fantasyland expansion, guests can definitely spy new structures going up behind them – even without the benefit of hopping on board Dumbo the Flying Elephant for an …

Plans Underway at Magic Kingdom for Characters’ New Homes

When Mickey’s Toontown closes at Magic Kingdom this Friday, Mickey and friends will be packing up for a move across the park.
As part of the Fantasyland expansion, some very famous characters had to find new homes.  The princesses were no problem; new digs are being built for them in the near future where Snow White’s Scary Adventures is currently located.  (Don’t worry; Snow White fans will have a brand new ride to celebrate their favorite characters.)  But Mickey, Minnie, and Friends – as well as the Fairies – where were they to …

With Closure of Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Disney Plans to Honor Heritage with New Ride

It seems almost inevitable:  with the expansion of Fantasyland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, something had to give.  And we now know that two popular attractions will be closing to make way for progress:  Mickey’s Toontown, set to close next week, and Snow White’s Scary Adventures.
Mickey’s Toontown was a later addition to the park, and as a result, doesn’t seem to be causing too much angst among Disney fans.  But Snow White’s Scary Adventures is another story altogether.
The ride, original to the park when it opened in 1971, will be …

If you were expecting something super scary, think again.  After all, this is Fantasyland.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney has unveiled a few more details regarding the upcoming Fantasyland roller coaster, The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.  And according to senior vice president for creative development Eric Jacobson, you probably won’t be left shaking in your boots.  “We’re thinking of this as somewhere between Barnstormer and Big Thunder,” he said.
Although plans are always subject to change, the idea centers around the story of Snow White, as the attraction takes riders deep …
