Lucasfilm and Marvel to Publish ‘Star Wars’ Comics and Graphic Novels Beginning in 2015

The Walt Disney Company has announced that Lucasfilm Ltd. and Marvel Entertainment have joined together to publish Star Wars comics and graphic novels beginning in 2015.
Marvel Comics published the first Star Wars comic book – STAR WARS #1 – in March 1977, and published the series for nine years. Dark Horse Comics took over the publishing license in 1991.
In 2013, Dark Horse released The Star Wars #1, which was an adaptation of George Lucas’ original screenplay for the film. That comic currently is one of the top-selling Star Wars comics …

Production of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ to Take Place in the United Kingdom

Lucasfilm has announced that the next installment of the Star Wars saga, Episode VII, is set to be filmed and produced in the United Kingdom.
The agreement was established earlier this year between London officials and Lucasfilm representatives. The first six Star Wars live action films have included production at famed UK studios include Elstree, Sheppperton, Leavesden, Ealing, and Pinewood Studios.

New ‘Star Wars’ Films to be Released Annually Beginning in 2015

Star Wars fans all around the world have been eagerly anticipating the return of the franchise since Disney’s announcement that a new film was in the works last fall. This week, however, it was revealed that while fans have to wait until 2015 for Star Wars: Episode VII, the wait for new films following its debut will be much shorter, as new Star Wars films are set to be released annually starting in 2015.

Mark Hamill Officially In Talks to Reprise Role in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

Last week, we let you know that Harrison Ford was reportedly in talks to reprise his role in Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars sequel. While there’s still no official word yet on Ford’s participation in the film, this week brought the news that another original Star Wars star has been in talks for the film: Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

JJ Abrams Officially Signed On As Director of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

A few days ago, we let you know that it was reported that J.J. Abrams has signed on to be the director of the next installment in the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: Episode VII. Disney Announces Acquisition of Lucasfilm

The Walt Disney Company has announced its acquisition of George Lucas’  Film Production Company, Lucasfilm Ltd.  The deal is valued at approximately $4 billion.
Regarding the transaction, Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger made this statement:
