New Locations Confirmed for Disney’s ‘Star Tours’

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the revamp of Star Tours at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, but new details are emerging as the debut date for the ride draws closer.
Last week, we reported the potential new locations to be introduced in Star Tours 2.0, and we are happy to say the new destinations have been confirmed! New Characters and Locations Slated for ‘Star Tours 2.0′

Star Tours 2.0, the updated version of the popular 1980’s simulator ride Star Tours, will give eager fans a brand new experience when the attraction re-opens at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort later this spring.
The ride is set between the “Star Wars” prequels and the original trilogy and will feature brand new special effects and high-definition 3-D technology. In fact, riders will be able to change the storyline throughout the ride, resulting in up to 54 new experiences and a different ride each time.

Dates for Disney’s Star Wars Weekends 2011 Announced

Fire up your landspeeders and set your course for Central Florida:  Disney has announced the official dates for Star Wars Weekends 2011!  You’ll be able to get your fill of all things Star Wars-related every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from May 20 through June 12 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The special celebration, marked by one of the largest gatherings of Star Wars characters anywhere, includes appearances by celebrities, trivia challenges, a Jedi Training Academy, opportunities to gather autographs and photos of your favorite stars, and lots of special merchandise.

Star Sighting:  George Lucas Visits Disneyland’s ‘Star Tours’ Attraction

Could there be higher praise to Disney’s “Star Tours” attraction than the blessing of none of than George Lucas himself?  No, we didn’t think so.
Mr. Lucas, creator of Star Wars, recently visited with Imagineers at Disneyland Park, and took a test voyage (or two) around the galaxy aboard the new Starspeeder 1000.  Apparently, upon landing back on Earth, he signaled the approval of the attraction with a general “thumbs up.”
Before leaving, Mr. Lucas took a moment to chat with his old friend, C-3PO.

Star Wars Meets Indiana Jones at Last Tour to Endor Event

The Last Tour to Endor, part of Star Wars Celebration V, is becoming more fleshed out as Disney World show writer and imagineer Jason Surrell continues to leak more information.
According to Surrell, even more attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are becoming part of the Celebration. Special Star Wars “Last Flight to Endor” Party Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

On Saturday, August 14th Disney will be holding a special event to commemorate the closing of “Star Tours” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Even though “Star Tours 2.0″ is set to open in 2011, as a re-imagineered attraction, many fans are sad to see the popular original go. A limited number of tickets will be available for the “Last Flight to Endor” party which takes place after park hours, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

D23 Members to Get “Last Ride” on Disneyland’s “Star Tours” Attraction

On July 14th, the first 160 D23 members to sign up will get the opportunity to be the last riders on “Star Tours” before it shuts down for a major overhaul. Those lucky enough to experience this last run of the galactic flight to Endor will meet at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney on July 26th to be escorted, after park closing, into Disneyland proper. Accompanied by D23 staffers, the 160 guests will board four Starspeeder 3000 vehicles to experience the attraction as it will never be …

More Star Tours 2.0 Details

For those looking forward to Disney’s new Star Tours 2.0 the LA Times Blog has some details about the upcoming ride.
Much has been made of how the ride will have various story lines and will “never be the same twice.” While that could have many meanings it makes sense that Disney would try to maximize the number of times guests can get a new experience from the same ride.

New Details Emerge About Revamped “Star Tours” Attraction

Last fall Disney announced that the “Star Tours” attraction in both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World were going to close this summer and undergo some needed updates. Fans were excited when the announcement revealed details that the 23-year-old spaceflight simulator was going to take guests on a journey to Tatooine, instead of the current trip to Endor. Interactive C3PO Talks & Mingles With Guests at Disney’s “Star Wars Weekends”

Contracted by Lucasfilm and approved by Star Wars creator George Lucas himself, a new interactive & talking C3PO droid scuttled his way through Disney’s Hollywood Studios park to greet guests during “Star Wars Weekends.” Even though the famous droid has been part of the event in the past this time he’s interacting with guests in an amazing way, he’s talking to them!
