Starting October 15th Rapunzel, from the upcoming animated feature “Tangled,” will be doing ‘meet & greets’ at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Replacing “Gepetto’s Sweet Shoppe” in Disneyland’s Fantasyland the new area will feature Rapunzel’s 70-foot long luxorious locks draped carefully around the pavilion. Rapunzel’s love interest, Flynn Rider, will also make appearances throughout the day.

Yahoo Movies has released several new stills along with the film poster from the upcoming Disney movie, Tangled, which brings us along on a re-imagined story of Rapunzel and her suitor, Flynn Rider.
Tangled showcases the talents of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn.

The Disney Parks Blog is reporting that a new “play and greet” experience based on the upcoming “Tangled” will be replacing “Storytime with Belle” in the Magic Kingdom.
The final “Storytime with Belle” will be on September 12th. Inside the Magic Speculates:
The “play and greet” sounds strikingly like a precursor to what is planned for Disney’s ongoing Fantasyland expansion that will include several new houses, each with their own interactive area for children of all ages to spend quality time with their favorite Disney Princesses.

Directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno discuss the animation theory behind the upcoming Disney animated film, Tangled.
The directors mention that this film is seeking the look and style of past Disney animation favorites Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, but with a fresh look of CGI. Special attention is paid here to the Tower, where Rapunzel has spent her life; the Forest, where she first breaks free from what has always been her home; and the Pub — the Snuggly Duckling.

Disney Animation Studios has joined the steering committee of Mari a software product that now licenses Disney 3D technology.
Mari is developed by The Foundry, however it’s software incorporates portions of Disney’s Paint 3D technology. This is newsworthy because it represents the first time the Disney has licensed its software to an outside company for commercial use.

The trailer for Disney’s new film, Tangled, has been released — along with some great still photos of the animation!
The film, based on the Rapunzel fairy tale, will be released in Fall 2010, and features the voice talents of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi.
In this version of the film, the “hero” (Flynn Rider) is actually a bandit! Rapunzel and Flynn proceed to “The two embark on a romantic action-comedy adventure across a mysterious landscape full of ridiculous creatures and deadly turns.”

There’s been lots of talk recently about the changes being made to Disney’s computer-animated “Rapunzel” movie, including it’s title change to “Tangled.”
The LA Times thinks this is because Disney’s trying to ensure that the film doesn’t appear too “girly.”
Thanks to the relatively low box office return of The Princess and the Frog, and to counteract it’s princess-heavy stereotype, Disney’s stepping up its marketing to the male gender in its parks (Pirate’s League in Disney World), resorts (pirate rooms in Disney World), television (Disney XD), and, of course, movies.
