The Walt Disney Co. Lends $1.7 Billion to Euro Disney

Euro Disney S.C.A., operator of Disneyland Paris, has been bailed out of their debt by a loan of $1.7 billion from The Walt Disney Co., as well as two other French subsidiaries.
Euro Disney S.A.S. Chief Executive Philippe Gas said:

Disney Executive Bob Lambert Passes Away

Bob Lambert, an executive who played an integral role in developing computer animation, has passed away at the age of 55. Cause of death was undisclosed.
Lambert worked as a senior executive in various departments of The Walt Disney Co. for 25 years, and was one of the chief executives who helped design a strategy to replace cell animation with CGI technology.

Disney Launches Online Game Portal in the U.K.

Making its debut in the U.K., Disney has launched an online games portal featuring more than 300 titles based on Disney characters, t.v. shows and franchises.
Disney Games offers plenty of titles for every Disney fan, from games based on Aladdin, Ariel and Mickey Mouse to those based on Hannah Montana, The Muppets and Spider-Man. The new portal also links to other Disney properties, including their iPhone and Android hub.

Disney Reports 24 Percent Profit Increase

Due to the amazing success of Marvel’s The Avengers as well as the recent addition of Cars Land to Disney’s California Adventure, The Walt Disney Co. have seen a 24% increase in quarterly profit – well ahead of company expectations.

Top Chicago FBI Agent Robert Grant Retiring to Work for Disney

Robert D. Grant, Special-Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the FBI, is retiring from public service and taking a position as part of Walt Disney Co.’s security team.

A home built by Disney theme park designer Robert F. McDonnell has been placed on the market for $1.5999 million.
Graystone Manor, located in the exclusive La Canada Flintridge neighborhood in Los Angeles, CA, features three stories on a sprawling 1-acre property. Disney Japan Offering Free TV Shows Online

Broadcast Satellite Disney (the satellite version of Disney Japan) has announced they will begin offering select ABC dramas online for free.
The company will offer 5 series starting on Sunday, including fan favorites Lost and Revenge. Each episode will be available for free for one week. After a total of 70 episodes, the company will end this free service in September.

Disney to Cut Junk Food Ads From its Media Platforms

The Walt Disney Company has announced that they are upping their involvement in ending childhood obesity, and will be creating a series of regulations aimed at promoting healthy eating habits across their media platforms.
First, the company will be banning advertisements on their kid-focused t.v. channels, radio stations and websites that do not meet nutritional standards. They will also be reducing the amount of sodium found in children’s meals at Disney theme parks by 25% while increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables sold in their parks. Disney Director/Producer Kevin Gill Passes Away

Director and producer Kevin Gill, a key player in the early days of MTV and an exec at Disney, passed away earlier this month at the age of 54.
In the early days of his career, Gill worked at MTV directing the original VJ’s and rock star guests. He also went on to direct and produce several soap operas as well as the teen-hosted Disney Channel show The Movie Surfers.
