Michelle Williams May Play Glinda the Good Witch in Disney’s New ‘Oz’ Film

Billie Burke, move over. There may soon be a new Glinda in town.
Reuters is reporting that Michelle Williams of Dawson’s Creek, Brokeback Mountain, and Shutter Island fame, may soon be taking on the role of Good Witch in the upcoming Disney film, Oz:  The Great and Powerful.   In the film, Glinda joins forces with a snake oil salesman, who will be played by James Franco, as they try to defeat a pair of bad witches, Theadora and Evanora.  Mila Kunis, who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe in the …

Michigan to Host the Filming of Disney’s ‘Oz’

Sources have recently announced that a Detroit, Michigan based studio will be hosting the filming of Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to the 1930’s classic Wizard of Oz. This will be the largest feature ever shot in Michigan.
The film, directed by Sam Raimi, tells the story of the wizard (played by James Franco) before he became the “great and powerful” wizard we know from the classic film.

Rachel Weisz in Talks to Join Mila Kunis in Disney’s ‘Oz’ Prequel

In March, it was confirmed that Mila Kunis had been signed to play one of three witches in Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, a prequel to the classic 1930’s film The Wizard of Oz.Now, sources say that actress Rachel Weisz is in talks possibly to co-star alongside Kunis as one of the other witches.

Mila Kunis Signed to Play a Witch in “Oz: The Great and Powerful”

Fresh off the success of indie film “Black Swan,”  Mila Kunis will be working Disney into her busy schedule.
Negotiations have been circling for quite some time, but Disney has now officially signed Kunis to play one of three witches in “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” a prequel to the classic 1930’s film “The Wizard of Oz.”
