Mad T Party Coming to Disney’s California Adventure

An all-new nighttime celebration will be replacing Disney California Adventure’s ElecTRONica this summer. Dubbed the Mad T Party, this Alice in Wonderland-themed party will feature plenty of surprises and fresh new takes on characters from Tim Burton’s film.

Radio Disney Holding “No Tricks, Just Treats” Halloween Sweepstakes

John Lasseter is #8 on Vanity Fair New Establishment List

Each year, Vanity Fair Magazine identifies who they believe to be the world’s most influential people with their New Establishment List. The list honors “the top 50 of an innovative new breed of buccaneering visionaries, engineering prodigies, and entrepreneurs,” with such influential individuals as Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and newly appointed Apple CEO Tim Cook at the top of the rankings. Tim Burton Not Directing Disney’s Live-Action ‘Maleficent’; Angelina Jolie Reportedly Still on Board

Sources recently reported that Tim Burton, who was originally in talks to direct Disney’s Maleficent, has moved away from the project. While Burton had only been loosely involved with Disney’s take on revamping Sleeping Beauty into a live-action film, he was involved enough to the point that Disney had hired Burton’s Alice in Wonderland collaborator Linda Woolverton to write the script. Woolverton also wrote the script for Disney’s The Lion King.
Angelina Jolie is still reportedly attached to the upcoming film, and the movie is being developed with her in mind. Disney …

Is Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Being Developed for the Stage?

According to Playbill.com, Disney Theatrical Productions has lined up it’s next big thing:  an adaptation of Tim Burton’s 2010 hit film “Alice in Wonderland” for the stage.
Disney executives have held meetings with Burton, the film’s director, and screenwriter Linda Woolverton, who also penned “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Lion King” screenplays.  Woolverton is also credited as  the book writer for “Beauty and the Beast” for the stage (which garnered her a Tony nomination), “Aida,” and “Lestat.”  Burton would oversee the production, but will not direct it, while Woolverton would adapt the screenplay for …

Oz, the Great and Powerful:  Robert Downey Jr. Out, Johnny Depp In?

Robert Downey, Jr. has reportedly backed out of the upcoming Disney film “Oz, the Great and Powerful.”  Seems his balloon won’t be landing in the Merry Old Land, after all.
The film, which is reported to be a prequel of sorts to the much-loved “Wizard of Oz,” will follow the wizard as a young performer, forced to leave the circus he’s traveling with, when his balloon is swept away by a tornado and…well, you get the point.  Sam Raimi is on board to direct the fantasy film.

Disney Receives Golden Globe Nominations for Films, TV Series

Disney and ABC Studios received a total of nine Golden Globe nominations, which were announced on Tuesday morning.
Three Disney films were honored with a total of six nominations between them.  “Alice in Wonderland,” Tim Burton’s live action fantasy which takes up where the animated version left off, garnered three nods:  Best Motion Picture in a Comedy or Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Actor – Comedy or Musical for Johnny Depp, who was also nominated for his role in “The Tourist.”  Going head to head in the Best Animated Feature …

Not only was Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” a huge box office hit for Disney, but it was visually captivating & used some stunning design elements that theater-goers reacted to. Disney’s Box Office Hit “Alice in Wonderland” Reaches $1 Billion Benchmark

Tim Burton’s successful ‘Alice’ remake has brought Disney into a financial wonderland after it was announced today that the popular film has made over one billion dollars in box office receipts since the film’s debut. “Alice in Wonderland” now joins heavy-hitters “Titanic” and “Avatar” as the top three “non-sequel” films to reach a billion dollar benchmark, and also touts the title of biggest opening for a 3-D movie.
